Waterfront Cottage
The Waterfront Cottage sits directly on the shores of Snow Pond, 15 minutes from Colby College and downtown Waterville and 1/2 mile from the Snow Pond Center for the Arts. Enjoy the BEST sunset views from the private dock and listen to the waves and loons at night. The private front deck is the perfect spot for a sunset cocktail after a day of swimming and kayaking from the sandy beach. You also have a private outdoor hot soaking tub and water view barrel sauna. Paradise! The space When you enter the Waterfront Cottage you will walk into the fully equipped kitchen with stove, microwave, and coffee bar with everything you'll need to make coffee and tea (and s'mores!). There is also a gas grill outside. The main room is open to the rustic and original beams of this darling Maine cottage and contains the seating area with record player and board games, along with the main sleeping area with a comfy Queen sized bed, and the dining area that seats 4 overlooking the water through a wall of windows that all open to screens. Towards the back of the cottage is a separated sleeping room with a full-size bed on the bottom and twin bunk bed on top. This sleeping room is open to the rest of the beautiful original beamed ceiling of the main room (so keep this in mind if someone in your group snores!). The bathroom is small but functional and has a great nightlight feature built into the main light. If you are very tall, this bathroom could be a challenge (but we think the views & charm make up for it!). When you exit the cottage from the side door, you'll walk out onto a small porch with the perfect little table and chair for morning breakfast (if you don't feel like walking down to the dock, or the other waterfront deck). The outdoor cast iron tub is accessed from the stairs off this small porch, and is a great way to start or end your day with a soak, before or after taking a sauna in our Finnish barrel sauna on our property, which you will have access to. From here, you can access the private waterfront deck that is perched right over the water and is a great place for a glass of wine with the sunset. You can also walk down to your private dock, which has a table and chairs that are perfect for lunch or snacks on the water. Next to the cabin you will find your private fire pit area, stocked with wood for making s'mores and enjoying the campfire in the evenings. String lights twinkle over the fire pit and outdoor tub area. A gas grill is located on the porch on the back of the cottage. From here, you can see the Finnish barrel sauna tucked into the trees in the center island of the property. Guests have access to the sauna -- reach out with us on how to book your sauna session! SLEEPING: Queen-sized bed in the open-concept main room with exposed pine beams (sleeps 2) Bunk bedroom with full-size futon and twin mattress on top (sleeps up to 3) BATHROOM: The bathroom has a small sink, shower, and toilet. The bathroom is definitely on the small side so if you are very tall, it might be a tight squeeze! OUTDOORS: Kayaks are available for guest use (three single person kayaks and one two-person kayak). We also have a paddle board for guest use and lots of floaties! The fire pit area overlooks your private dock and the outdoor hot cast iron soaking tub *NO soap allowed in the tub, for soaking only with fresh flowers & herbs)* There is a gas grill on the back deck for your exclusive use. On the other side of the cottage there is a sandy beach area that is great for swimming and launching the kayaks. The beach area is between my father's house next door and the Waterfront Cottage and is shared with the Barn Loft listing, so you might occasionally see someone launch a kayak or swim from the beach area. The dock and fire pit area is on the other side of the cottage and is very private. We also have a beautiful 4 person Finnish barrel sauna (with lake views!) on the property that you will have access to. TECHNOLOGY: Smart TV with Netflix and Hulu. High speed Wi-Fi . If you want to disconnect, there is also a record player with a bunch of records to listen to in the evenings! KITCHEN: We provide guests with gourmet coffee and tea, a traditional coffee pot, pour-over coffee system, and French press. There is also a full kitchen with full-size fridge, microwave, and oven/stove (the oven/stove is an antique, but it still works great!). Let us know if you plan to have lobsters during your stay and we will make sure you are set up with lobster feast supplies! WILDLIFE: Loons, otters, great blue herons, and bald eagles have all been spotted from the cottage windows! The lake is known for some great fishing (bass, perch, trout, pike, pickerel). If you need more space for your group, consider booking with our Barn Loft, which is located on the same property. Photography by Sarah Sullivan at Story Silo. Guest access The cottage is entirely yours for your stay and we respect your privacy. Keyless check-in. You have access to your own private dock, the attached front deck, fire pit area, as well as the beach and swimming area. Feel free to use the kayaks, paddle board, and flotation devices. Other things to note The bathroom is quite small and the shower is not ideal for tall people. This is a classic old Maine cottage FULL of charm, not bathroom space. ;-) Quiet time after 10 pm; no parties. A train passes on the other side of the lake which may disturb light sleepers (we personally love the sound!).
