The expansive screen windows allow you to lounge in comfort and feel the fresh air as you experience the birds chirping, loons calling, and frogs singing at night. On chilly nights, draw the curtains and light the gas fireplace for a cozy evening you'll never forget. Relax in a hammock, hike the trails, enjoy kayaking, paddleboarding, swimming or fishing on our peaceful lake. 40 min. to Acadia The space The Happy Loon Hideaway is the ultimate hygge lakefront retreat. You'll have complete privacy with no neighbors in sight and no traffic noise. The expansive windows give you 180 degree panoramic views of the lake and surrounding woods while you gently sway in the porch swing or lounge in the comfy king sized bed. Enjoy your morning coffee by the water's edge as you watch the loons and their babies as they swim and fish in the protection of our peaceful cove. With no public boat access and minimal motorboats, the lake remains calm and quiet, perfect for kayaking or paddleboarding. We have 2 kayaks and 2 paddleboards for you to use as well as some noodles to use as floats if you'd like to swim. There are 2 bedrooms with king beds. One bedroom is in the main cabin and another one is in a large canvas glamping tent that is about 50 feet away from the main cabin on an elevated platform overlooking the trees. This offers two couples complete privacy from each other. There's also a twin size porch swing with a memory foam mattress in the main cabin that makes a very comfortable bed if needed. We have four pillows on the king bed, two that are on the firmer side and two that are softer as well as extra pillows and blankets in the linen closet, so you are sure to be comfortable! You can close the curtains to have some privacy between the bedroom and living area, but be aware the cabin is essentially one open space, and there is no wall or door to close the bedroom. We have a well stocked kitchen with all of the essentials you need to make delicious meals. You can choose from the 2 burner propane stove inside the cabin or a gas BBQ grill on the lakeside deck to cook your meals. We also have a refrigerator with a freezer, a microwave and toaster. The cabin is completely off-grid, but has all of the luxuries of home with a flush toilet, hot water and excellent water pressure. The bathroom has a large walk in spa-like shower under a clear ceiling, hanging plants, and a large screen window to create the illusion of showering outdoors. Explore the 5 acres of woods and 300 feet of water frontage. We have some huge glacial erratic boulders on the property adorned with ferns, moss, lichens, and trees growing out of them. You can also hike for miles right from the cabin along the miles of old logging roads and open use land, or opt for more established hiking trails like the great pond Mountain land trust just a few miles away. At night our cabin transforms into a warm and romantic haven, illuminated by wall propane lights, magical fairy lights, and flickering candles. We also have a fireplace you can turn on with a remote. Admire the night sky, free of light pollution, revealing a clear view of the stars. The cedar path to the water is lit with overhead string lights to make it easy to walk to the lower deck by the water and the firepit area. We're in an optimal location to explore Mid-Coast and Downeast Maine. We're only about 15 minutes from downtown Ellsworth and 45 minutes from Acadia National Park. We're also close to other beautiful mid-coast towns like Camden, Blue Hill, Castine, and Belfast. We live less than 10 minutes away, so if you need anything we can be there quickly, but we will never drop in unannounced so you can be sure you'll have complete privacy during your stay. We are LGBTQ+ and BIPOC friendly, everyone is welcome! Guest access You will have all 5 acres to explore and over 300 feet of waterfront all to yourself. Other things to note * This is an open air cabin with large screen walls and limited climate control. The vast majority of the time, the weather is divine, especially being in a cove mostly protected from winds. On occasions when the weather is windy, chilly, or blowing rain, there are heavy curtains that can be drawn and in extreme cases, plastic that can easily be rolled down to cover the windows. There's also a small gas space heater and extra blankets to make it extra cozy. * The cabin is about a mile down an unpaved, gravel road. Cars and SUVs should have no problems, but not ideal for a low clearance vehicle. * We have Wifi, but it's not very fast and I wouldn't rely on it if you need to work, do zoom calls, etc. * There's not enough room for a camper or trailer to turn around in the driveway. So, no campers/trailers are allowed. * This cabin is not safe for children under 8. There are multiple elevated decks and walkways, and the cabin is very close to the lakefront.
