We would love to welcome you to our beautiful lakeside home with a private beach on pristine Spofford Lake. Lovingly cared for as a traditional Lake House for over fifty years, we have updated its classic charm with luxury modern conveniences such as high-speed fiber optic internet with WIFI throughout the property and brand-new appliances including a new 55” Samsung Smart TV with multiple streaming channel options. The space Private Beach: Lake Spofford is the hidden gem of the north east! It is a spring-fed pristine Grade A lake with clear, clean, refreshing water that is ideal for swimming, kayaking, fishing – all activities for you and your family to enjoy from our private beach that includes a dock, swim float, 2 kayaks and a canoe plus paddles and life vests. The private beach is just 30 feet from the Lake House’s front door – to access you easily walk across a quiet, narrow dead-end street and down a few steps to an outdoor sitting/relaxing area and then down to a sandy beach. Spend your days at the water’s edge and unwind surrounded by the beautiful landscape – keep an eye out for bald eagles soaring overhead or the loons calling at twilight! The House: Downstairs: Our front door leads you to an entrance area that includes a full washer and dryer in one of its closets. A hall leads to three bedrooms as well as a full bathroom with shower. At the foot of the stairs is a back-storage room that houses an extra refrigerator (which you can use to store drinks, etc.) as well as garbage and recycling containers. Bedroom 1: 2 double beds, 1 twin bed, dresser, closet and lake views. Bedroom 2: 1 Queen Bed, dresser, closet and lake views. Bedroom 3: 1 Queen Bed, 1 couch that has a pull-out bed, dresser, closet, sliding glass doors that access backyard and seating area. Upstairs: When you walk upstairs you will be greeted by a cheerful open plan living space that includes a large kitchen, dining area and living room. A hall then leads to a full bathroom and a master bedroom overlooking the lake. There is also a back deck off of the kitchen that has a sitting area and grill. Kitchen/Dining/Living Room: The kitchen includes new appliances (refrigerator and dishwasher) and is well stocked with enough dishes, glasses, flatware, cooking items and utensils to service a large family. The dining room has an expandable table that can seat up to ten – additional chairs and a dining bench are at hand in the space to accommodate a large party. The living room has a sitting area surrounded by large windows that reveal spectacular panoramic lake views. There is a sectional couch and two armchairs with additional chairs at hand in the space to accommodate a large party. We have a selection of board games to wile away the time or if you prefer a movie night there is new 55” Samsung Smart TV with multiple streaming channel options. Please note: The Wood Stove at the center of the space does not work and must not be used. For safety we do not allow any open flames inside the house (candles or wood fire). Bedroom 4 and Bathroom: There is a full bathroom with a shower off a short hall from the kitchen. Across the hall from bathroom is a closet with cleaning supplies. Bedroom 4 has one Queen Bed, two closets (one of which is used for towel and bedding storage), two armchairs, and a large window with lake views. Location: Spofford Lake is conveniently located just a 2-hour drive from Boston or a 4-hour drive from New York City. The Vermonter Train (which runs from DC to NYC up through CT/MA to St Albans, Vermont) stops at Brattleboro, Vermont – a less than 20 minutes away. Spofford is situated in-between Brattleboro, VT and Keene, NH – both towns and the surrounding region have so many great restaurants, art and music venues, brew pubs, antiquing, plus tons of hiking & biking trails and loads of other activities. For food shopping we have not only large grocery stores in both directions but also amazing co-ops that have tons of local produce, meat & fish, baked items and more! Plus there are great organic farm stands in the area and farmers markets on the weekend. We will provide a welcome book that will include a ton of information of what is available locally and we invite you to reach out to let us know if there is anything you are particularly interested in (live music, local food, hiking, etc). Guest access Guests Access the entire house and the private beach, dock, float, kayaks & canoe. There is also access to private parking: on the lakeside – just above the private beach – is a parking lot that can hold up to 3-4 cars (depending on car size). Next to the house there is a driveway that can hold 2-3 cars (depending on car size). Other things to note This listing is a Saturday – Saturday ONLY booking. Our cleaners are only able to work on Saturdays (this is typical for the majority of rentals on Spofford Lake). Check in is at 4pm and check out 10am to give our cleaners enough time to ready the house for the next guests. We appreciate your understanding that since the cleaners can only work on Saturday, we can only accommodate Sat-Sat reservations. Thank you!
