This is a tent site only; you furnish your own camping gear. Bobcat Island is a small Island near the edge of a 2-acre pond. The site is about 125 feet from parking area. The restroom is next to the greenhouse. If you arrive after hours' drive past the cabin down the hill turn left past duck hill site, up a small hill, park and walk down the path to the right, cross a small footbridge, continue on the path to your site. I look forward to seeing you in the morning! The space This campsite is one of six designated campsites on True Serendipity Homestead that was created by Mike and Cheryl Whitmore and covers 25 acres with a two-acre pond. There are 6 tent sites, hiking trails, gardens, chickens and much more to discover here. We moved here at the beginning of the covid pandemic with a dream and a prayer to carve a new life out of the Maine woods. most people at our age (mid 60's) would stop at only the dream but the two of us decided we only live life once so let's go for it. I have a lifetime of knowledge from working in a lumber mill to working on Jet fighters in the Marine Corps and just about everything in between. Cheryl has a master's in art Knows how to use tools. In one summer, we milled the logs I cut from the land and her and I built a small cabin and made through that winter (2020). The next spring we finished the cabin and started booking camp sites through a platform called Hipcamp and after only two seasons, Hipcamp awarded us second place in the state of Maine for the best Hipcamp tent site to visit in the whole state of Maine! So here we are still building, a blacksmith shop, (classes coming soon), a chicken coop, gardens and much more. Our ultimate goal is to create a place where people can come visit and experience down to earth living as it was meant to be and that it is possible for anyone with a dream and willing to do the work can accomplish this. Guest access This off-grid homestead offers a plethora of sights to behold. You are welcome to explore everything except the interior of our cabin and workshop. Enjoy visiting the chickens, unwinding in the gardens, strolling along the trails, and fully rejuvenating both body and mind! Other things to note Enhance your stay with our exciting activities! - Homestead Workshop - Blacksmith Demonstration - Feather Hook Forging Workshop - Painting Art Classes For additional information and to reserve your experience, please send us a message through Airbnb.
