Welcome to our newly renovated "old fisherman's cottage!" The perfect place to relax and recharge- a quiet, little spot, set back on a river. The river is great for swimming during the summer months, and just a mile down the road is a sandy beach on the shores of Lake Superior. There's a big yard with a firepit and grill. The dock may be used to park a boat. The inside is charming and cozy with a full kitchen, washer and dryer, and games for your enjoyment. The space Fedderly Cottage was once the home of a Lake Superior fisherman and his wife in the 1940s and 50s. When we bought this place, we knew we wanted to keep the old charm that it had and add a nod to the fishing history of the home - but also freshen it up! We love the way it all came together and hope you will, too! The front door leads to a beautiful, year-round sun porch with a table on each end for dining, playing games, or catching up on some work. Off the porch is a full kitchen with a coffee bar in the corner, stocked with organic coffee beans, and 3 different ways to brew it. The cozy living room is open to the kitchen. There's a main floor bedroom with a queen bed and 2 bedrooms upstairs connected by an open doorway (1 with 2 twin beds, the other with 1 queen and 1 full). The steps are steep to the upstairs, so please take that into consideration before booking! There's a washer and dryer for your convenience in the laundry room. The bathroom has a bathtub/shower. Fedderly Cottage is located in Big Traverse (Lake Linden), Michigan. It's the perfect place to rest and unwind, or to be a homebase as you explore all the Keweenaw Peninsula has to offer! We experience all 4 seasons here - so whether you like skiing, snowmobiling, snowshoeing, biking, hiking, fishing, or sightseeing, this is the place to be! We're located a mile from the snowmobile trails, 20 minutes from Swedetown ski trails, and 40 minutes from Mount Bohemia. There's ample parking for snowmobile trailers. If you're a big lake fisherman, this is the perfect spot to bring your boat, right on the Traverse River- with access to Lake Superior. If you'd like to fish but don't have a boat, there's a fishing charter (Haataja Charters) right next door that you can book a trip with. We have a canoe and a couple kayaks for guest use on the river. We ask that you stay in the river with them and not take them out into Lake Superior. The big lake can be dangerous at times, and we want to keep you safe. There are many beautiful beaches and hiking trails nearby. Check out our guidebook for more details. We designed this cottage to be a place to relax and unplug, so for that reason, we have chosen not to have a TV, but we do have starlink wifi that you're free to use. Other things to note There are 2 buildings on the property (a garage and a shack), and both are off-limits. You may want to bring watershoes/sandals for swimming in the river. The bottom is sandy, but it's a river- so it's constantly moving, and there's a possibility for an old bottle or fishing lure to settle in the sand.
