Tranquil Villa Tau is a very large, beautifully appointed 4-bedroom, 4-bathroom villa set just 6km north of central Ubud, in the heart of the iconic rice fields, perfectly positioned for your Ubud stay. After a day's sightseeing, or just lounging at the pool, our staff is on hand to serve you cocktails, cook your dinner & generally release you from all the chores that can turn your holiday into hard work - no cleaning, cooking or washing of dishes by guests at Villa Tau! The space We've taken great care to furnish the villa in an eclectic mix of contemporary design and carefully selected Balinese antiques. We have aimed for a stylish yet relaxed feel conducive to a laid-back holiday. We've sourced the most comfortable mattresses, high quality linen and towels, and sofas made for relaxing. The villa is large, spacious and spread out over three separate pavilions. Close enough to each other that everyone can be together in the amazing entertainment area in the main house, but far enough apart that all members of your party can have their own space and privacy when they want it. The main house has large, spacious rooms. The living area on the lower level is open-plan with comfortable sofas and chairs, a dining room with a table seating 8 people, and a large entertainment area, which includes a pool table, a Smart TV and relaxed seating. This level opens up via big folding doors to the outside undercover patio at the pool. Here additional comfy chairs and an extra dining area for 8 people allows you to make the most of the wonderful weather, large lush garden and beautiful views over the private farm land next door. Loungers at the pool are available for you to relax in the sun. Seamless indoor/outdoor living doesn’t get better than this. There is a guest toilet on this level, as well as a dedicated coffee station room with a “help yourself now, pay on checkout” bar for all kinds of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. Villa Tau is not a self-catering villa - our staff will serve you tasty breakfasts (included in your rate) and other meals off the deliciously varied menu. Bedrooms All four of the roomy, light-filled bedrooms are fitted with king-size beds (the beds in the two upstairs rooms in the main house can convert into twin beds). Each bedroom has air-conditioning and all bed linen is pure cotton. Ample cupboard space, and a safe, is provided in every bedroom, each of which has outdoor seating where you can relax in private. Joglo Suite The Joglo master suite is the pièce de resistance of Villa Tau. A joglo is a wooden frame building built entirely by hand, from solid teak, using only joinery. Each joglo is unique, with the carving style and structural details being decided by the master craftsman. The joglo at Villa Tau is a magnificent example of the traditional carpentry skills and artistry for which the Javanese artisans are famous. The joglo is at the bottom of the garden, slightly away from the main house, and is therefore very private. It faces directly on to the rice fields with a sweeping outlook over the paddies. It has a wide, private undercover patio with Balinese day beds so you can curl up with a book to enjoy the peace and the view. In keeping with the main structure, the romantic 100m² Joglo suite has a solid teak super-king extra-length four-poster bed, overhung by a mosquito net. The jaw-dropping outdoor but undercover en-suite bathroom has two basins, a bath and a shower. Capung (Dragonfly) Bedroom This spacious upstairs bedroom in the main villa has an extra-length, super-king bed with a top-quality mattress. It can be converted into two twin beds if necessary. Big windows bring in the rice field view, and wide doors open up onto the massive upstairs balcony with its own outdoor seating. It has a separate dressing room, and the private outdoor covered bathroom has two showers, double basins and rice field views! Kupu-Kupu (Butterfly) Bedroom Kupu-Kupu is next to Capung, and also has an extra-length, super-king bed with a top-quality mattress which can be converted into twin beds if necessary. The room has big doors and windows to let in the light and the rice field views, and has access to the same upstairs balcony with its own outdoor seating. This bedroom has a very large, beautifully appointed bathroom with a bath, a shower and double basins. Kunang-Kunang (Firefly) Bedroom The Kunang-Kunang bedroom is a cottage in the garden and is therefore quite private. It has a king-size, extra-length solid teak romantic 4-poster bed with a mosquito net, and an en-suite bathroom with double basins and an outside shower. The wraparound undercover patio, bordered by a pretty fish pond, has seating for you to enjoy the peace of the garden and the surrounding rice field scenery. Guest access Villa Tau is only ever rented to one group at a time and guests have access to the whole property. Other things to note Catering A complimentary breakfast from our breakfast menu is provided throughout your stay. Villa Tau does not offer self-catering. Food is such an interesting, and delicious part of a Balinese holiday that we offer a simple, reasonably priced à la carte menu of Balinese and international cuisine which is prepared by our staff. Each guest can order what they would like to eat. Our staff are more than happy to show you how they prepare the traditional Balinese dishes that we offer. In addition we will endeavour to accommodate any dietary requirements or additional beverages which are not on our menu, where possible. We also offer a beautiful, social media-worthy floating breakfast. Our beverage list, for your account, includes both non-alcoholic and alcoholic drinks. Tea and coffee is complimentary, as is bottled water from the water dispenser. Safe ice is always used. Staff No need to lift a finger while staying at Villa Tau! Our staff of four are there to ensure that your holiday is as stress-free, hassle-free and relaxed as it should be, while affording you privacy at all times. The Balinese are well known in the international hotel trade for their exemplary levels of ‘intuitive service’, and the staff at Villa Tau is no exception.
