Nestled in a charming rural Pacific Northwest island community, this cozy grandma cottage is perfect for creating holiday memories. Built in the 70s, the cottage is nicely appointed, sparkling clean, and full of charm. Traveling with your furry friend? Hypoallergenic dogs are welcome with pre-approval and a small fee. Chance of seasonal power outages. The space This home sits on a large lot with trees and open space. RV parking (for 1 only). Territorial view with field and abundant bird watching. A charming church with a steeple in the distance. Fences and landscaping provide privacy from neighbors. Safety features have been added to protect small children. Master queen-sized bed has a back-friendly mattress with a luscious gel-foam topper. A step stool with safety bar is provided for seniors because the bed is a little bit tall. Kid's room has a traditional-sized twin bed and small desk and chair for study or work. Quiet neighborhood with minimal night lighting - it makes for great stargazing! Please note that it's not beach-side, so no beach views from the home and tide-dependent beach combing and swimming. Guests enjoy beach access, we provide beach towels. Please BYO firewood and kindling. Small hypoallergenic dog(s) won't be a problem but larger and/or non-hypoallergenic dog(s) might not be approved. Puppies must be at least 18 months old and past the chew-on-everything stage. Please inquire about your dog prior to booking. Guest access There is one room in the home used for storage with no guest access. It is the middle bedroom, so please note that the kid's room is down the hallway with a room separating you from your child. We do not have bedding for infants, so please plan to bring safe, portable bedding for your little one. The washer and dryer are in the garage and you are welcome to use them. Remaining garage space, including the fridge located in the garage, not available for guest use. Other things to note Kitchen is very well stocked with pots, pans, etc. But note that there is no dishwasher. Guests don't seem to miss it, but please be aware in case that is a problem for you. Please do your own dishes, including the coffee pot and wiping down the stove/counter tops before you go. You can leave the rest of the cleaning to us. Note about the cleaning fee: This fee may seem large to some; however, it reflects the true cost of our cleaning service. They do a great job and your host values paying a livable wage. In the event that the service needs to charge more due to excessive need to clean-up after a guest's departure, you may be asked to cover the cost. We are thankful that this is rare. Caution to parents: There are two creeks in the back yard that could be a drowning hazard to small children. Please watch your children carefully when playing outside. There is no fence in the back yard. The grasses are a deterrent but may not be enough if your child is determined. Please recycle only CLEAN glass, #1 and #2 plastics, and paper in the recycle bin. No pizza boxes or clam shell plastics. We'll just dig them out and toss them anyway. And please remove your lids from containers. Please park only in the gravel lot in front of the house. There is a 2-car limit since gatherings are not allowed, so there is plenty of space. Never park on the grass, as our septic is located in that area. Evidence of parking on the grass will result in an AirCover claim and may incur additional liability if the septic tank is damaged and a settlement fee from AirCover even in no immediate damage is apparent. Sorry, no EV charging! (Our front outside outlet no longer works due to a guest trying to charge their EV.) There is a charging station close by on the island - your smart phone will show you. The indoor fireplace has an insert, and instructions are available in the guest book. Please BYO natural wood. These items are available at most local grocery stores and bait shops. Pressed wood, fire starters, etc. are not allowed and evidence, however slight, of their use will result a report to AirBnB as a broken rule violation with a request for compensation. Enjoy an outdoor table and outdoor grill. NOTE: Host does not provide propane; however, you were welcome to use what's available if the tank hasn't been drained. Please check the tank before you plan to use it. You may need to fill it up (at your expense) at one of the many nearby local stores/suppliers. Please, never use kitchen pots/pans on the outdoor grill! Any evidence (however slight) of tobacco, cannabis, vaping or other smoke products (including odors) or illicit drug use on the property will result in a report to AirCover as a broken rule violation with a request for compensation. The house creaks a little during rapid heat/cooling periods. This is usually evenings and early morning hours, mostly in the spring and fall when the weather changes. You might notice some light snapping/knocking sounds at night.
