Shore Way is a quiet dead end gravel road along the lake. The summer season is somewhat busier, but this is where we find serenity. We wake up and fall asleep each day to the call of the loons. The lake is 50 feet from our deck; woods all around. The location is central to Newcomb, North Creek, Gore Mountain, Schroon Lake, Lake George for activities including steamship lake cruises, river rafting , hiking, biking, canoeing, golf and shopping. The space Large windows fill the house with light. The main living area is open and includes the kitchen, dining area and living room with a cathedral ceiling. The built-in desk is made from a yellow birch tree which grew in our yard. The credenza hides the TV and the Bose sound system. The 3 bedrooms each have 2 windows for cross ventilation, closet, dresser and bedside tables. Each has direct access to a bathroom. The downstairs bedroom has a queen size bed. Upstairs, one bedroom has an "olympic queen" size bed (6 " larger than a queen). The other bedroom has bunks with a twin bed on top and a double bed below. Sliding doors in the living room open to a large two tier deck with a hot tub and screened gazebo. Our water front is sandy and suitable for launching canoes, fishing, and toasting marshmallows at the fire pit (not for swimming). The public beach is within sight of our house at the town park, easily accessible by canoe or a short car ride; not to be missed. There is a large life guarded swimming area, lunch stand, restrooms, fireplaces, picnic tables, playground, hiking paths and boat rentals. Guest access There are two areas closed to guests --the ski closet and the basement where we hosts store our clothes and other personal stuff. The house comfortably accommodates 6. Other things to note AVAILABILITY The rental season in 2024 will be April 1 through October 31st. Check-in will be 3:00pm; check-out at 10:00 am. HOUSE RULES Quiet hours begin at 10:00 PM. No smoking anything inside Regarding parties, celebrations, frat house events, fireworks and the like please recognize that Shore Way is a residential neighborhood. Visits of family and friends are welcome of course, raucous gatherings are not allowed. Residents of Shore Way are appreciative of guests who drive at modest speeds. Children and pets may be playing. The town posts a 5MPH speed limit on the lake so canoes, kayaks, and rowboats are common. No internal combustion to drown out a loon call. ABOUT DOGS Dogs may be allowed after discussion with our host. This is a small residential area with young children. A town regulation states that dogs should be leashed at all times. Even well-managed dogs may unexpectedly chase deer or other wildlife. A few Shore Way dogs have been lost in the vast wilderness surrounding Minerva. STORES AND RESTAURANTS Minerva is a residential hamlet with no services. Sullivan's, in nearby Olmsteadville, has gas pumps, general store items and some food and pantry items. North Creek, about 15 miles, has a Tops Food Market. These restaurants should be checked for days and hours of operation: Beck's, Bar Vino, Basil and Wick's and Marsha's. The Lake Harris Lodge in Newcomb, about 15 miles away, is also recommended.
