Home Away From Home - Double Bed
In rural Frederick County stay in a charming farm house with an incredible sunset view over the mountains. The 3rd floor has been renovated with 3 bedrooms, full bath and sitting room. Lots to do in nearby Historic Gettysburg, PA and Frederick, MD. The space Guests have an option of renting a non smoking room with a double bed. - additional accommodations allowed for groups of four if space allows. Rates listed are based on one person renting the double bed room. If you wish to reserve the additional space, please book a second room. Home away from Home- single bed 2 or single bed should be booked separately. Groups of 3 will have access to a second room, ONLY if not already booked; otherwise there is an air mattress available. Maximum guest for this listing is 4. The maximum guest I allow for all listings combined is 5. Which means there may or may not be other guests scheduled and some spaces will be shared. I can accommodate a family of seven if no other guests are scheduled with my other booking. The rooms must be booked separately. To check availability send an inquiry. I look forward to your visit. There are pets in the home. Cleo the cat is strictly an indoor cat. She may try to rush you at the door. Please do not let her out. If by chance she gets out there is an emergency can of food by the door. Please, open it and see if you can coax her in. Please notify me immediatly if she does not return. She will be ok for a short amount of time, don't panic and enjoy the rest of your visit. There are outdoor cats who will be in my care. They do not come in. I also foster dogs and they may or may not be present. Cookie is officially a furry family member and will be present daily. All dogs are contained to a designated area when I am not home. They are not allowed on the 3rd floor and most of the time they are not allowed on the 2nd floor. There are baby gates or doors to keep them out of the guests' areas. Please, help me respect guests who may not want to interact with the dogs by not allowing any pets in your rooms and keeping gates closed. Guest access The home has three floors. The third floor is the designated guest area, with three guest bedrooms. The first floor- kitchen and dining areas are also available for guests use as well as the porch and outdoor sitting area. Please be consiterate of shared spaces by keeping towels, trash, dishes and personal belongings in designated areas. Ie hang towels, rinse dishes and put in sink or diswasher, make sure trash is in the receptacles and rinse sinks after shaving or brushing teeth. There are two additional guest rooms on the 2nd floor. Home Away From Home 2. There are four rooms on the second floor. Two rooms are not set up for guests. I ask that guests respect my privacy by not entering these rooms. The third floor has the shared guest living room. There is a family living room on the first floor. Guests are welcome to join me as I settle in for the evening. This is where I wind down most days and play with the dogs. Watch your step for dog toys, socks and shoes. At the moment I do not have cable/ satellite connected in some guest rooms -double and Home away 2. If you need to check the news or weather reports, the third floor living room has Direct TV. The TV in the guests area is set up to watch DVDS. I also have a huge collection of traditional games- non electronic. Feel free to set up a game on a card table or in the dining room. Games are in the 1st floor family room in the cabinets as well as in the third floor living room and second floor guest room. If you are booking HOME AWAY FROM HOME - Single and single 2 there is basic Direct TV avaible. There is a small "hotel size" refrigerator in the pantry for guest to use. When there are dogs being fostered access to the pantry area is closed off. Space will be provided in main refridgerator. Please, no food or drinks on the upper levels. Plain water (non flavored or sweetened) is ok. Do not place liquids on wood furniture. The house is located on a large farming property, which is farmed for hay, corn, soy, barley and wheat. The farm buildings and fields are restricted spaces and are not for guest use. Please, feel free to enjoy the spectacular views from the porch or the yard. Sunrises, sunsets and the night sky are just beautiful! During your stay I work a varied schedule. I will be in and out during the day. Most evenings, I will be home. If you have any questions I will do my best to answer. I look forward to meeting new people and potentially making lasting connections for frequent travelers. I truly enjoy learning about people and their adventures but if you prefer your privacy, I will respect that as well. My room is below the guests' space, please keep noise to a minimum after 11:00pm. Other things to note This is a NON SMOKING/NON VAPING home. If you are booking and traveling with smokers please inform them there is no smoking or vaping in the house. Guests may VAPE outside but there is NO SMOKING ON THE PROPERTY. If you are Vaping please be considerate and do not vape near open windows. The vape aromas will infiltrate the house through any open windows. I am very sensitive to certain smells and develop sinus irritation very quickly. Thank you in advance for respecting this requirement. Please respect my privacy and do not enter the remaining second floor rooms. If you are booking HOME AWAY FROM HOME - Single and single 2 there is basic Direct TV avaible. SHOWER 3rd FLOOR: To turn on the shower turn the water to full cold. Lift the diverter and pivot. Once the shower has engaged set desired temperature. Turn lever at the top of the shower for hand held or shower head only. A/C or Heat: When using A/C, please close windows and doors to stairs and the hall. Each room has their own temperature control. Second floor has individual window units. When using heat, please close window. Doors to the stairs may be left open. If using a space heater on the 1st or 2nd floor please close doors to the hall. **Turn off ALL space heaters when leaving the house no matter the duration you will be gone.** **Turn off all central air and heat units (3rd floor) when leaving for more than an hour. ** CIELING FAN and Window Fans: Guest living room- There is a pull chain to turn off the light and adjust the fan speed. If you leave please turn off light; you may leave the fan on the low setting if needed. (AT THE MOMEN THE FAN HAS ONE SETTING THE CHAIN IS BROKEN) Guest bedroom second floor- This fan is operated by remote. Light switch must be on in order for it to engage. Use the remote to adjust light and/ or fan to off and on. Kitchen-There is a pull chain to turn off the light and adjust the fan speed. If you leave please turn off light; you may leave the fan on the low setting if needed. Window fans- Please, turn off all window fans and close the windows when leaving for the day. WASHER/ DRYER: If needed the washer and dryer are located in the half bath on the first floor. To operate washer- place your clothing inside, push start, choose your settings, add HE detergent only (on the left), push start again. To operate dryer- place your clothing inside, push start, choose your setting, push start again. BATHROOMS/ GUEST SHOWER: The shower for guests is located on the third floor. I ask that all guest use this shower. (Exceptions may apply when third floor is booked long term or as a suite for a private group). Please hang any wet towels or other items on hooks provided, do not hang over wood doors, furniture or drop on the floors. Guest are welcome to use the half bath on the first floor as needed. Guest staying on the second floor may also use the lavatory on the second floor. It is not necessary to trek up to the third floor in the middle of the day or night. I do not mind sharing but the shower plumbing on the second floor is a bit older and sometimes temperamental. I try not to over work it.
