This mid-century single-floor farmhouse was recently renovated with love and care by us, two Brooklyn artists who have dreamed together for two decades of owning a home outside the city that unites nature, comfort, and creativity. From the garden to the plush furniture to the curated artworks in every room, every decision was made with the intention of creating a joyful and restorative experience for our guests. A salvaged iron wheel at the end of the driveway signals your arrival, and the outside world instantly falls away as you enter through coniferous trees, giant old apple trees and a barn to spy Cozy Grove sitting atop a low rock ledge bookended with pussy willow and Japanese maple trees. Enter through the warm yellow front door and the celebration-ready dining area is ready for slow breakfasts and games with friends. Continue through the dining room to enter the jewel box of a kitchen featuring Hudson-inspired maximalist features such as deep black cabinetry with brass hardware, floral wallpaper, and all-new appliances including an induction stovetop oven with air-fryer. What’s that below your feet? Yes, it’s a penny floor made up of approximately 30,000 pennies that have been lovingly, painstakingly laid by your hosts’ hands. Brimming with designs and hidden features, both kids and kids-at-heart can enjoy a scavenger hunt included in the guest book! Follow the copper brick road into the bar nook, where your mornings are sure to get a little bit brighter with a Moccamaster brand coffee maker, Fellow coffee grinder and pourover setup, juice press, and seltzer machine. Bartenders will likewise find all the right tools at their disposal to ensure evenings at Cozy Grove Hudson are filled with fine spirits and laughter. The living room beckons with perhaps the largest, comfiest wraparound couch we could fit in the space. Kindling and firewood are stacked and ready beside the cast iron wood stove, and a 74” widescreen flatscreen TV with Roku offers all the streaming services to ensure that a retreat from the real world doesn’t mean having to miss out in your latest streaming obsession. By now, you might have noticed the speakers lofted in the corners of every room. First one to jump on the Sonos app gets to play DJ, yet each room can be set independently, meaning the chef in your party can enjoy their doom metal in the kitchen without interfering with another’s virtual work call in the office. That’s right: office. Slide open the suspended barn door in the living room to reach the spacious and light-filled office. Complete with designer’s hardwood desk, Zoom-backdrop-ready artwork, and closet converted into a plush reading spot, no one said working remotely had to be anything less than decadent. Through the surprise sliding doors is yet another piece de la resistance, a sun porch featuring a pair of deep cushioned burnt orange armchairs, handcrafted Turkish end table, and mini art gallery featuring some of our favorite prints and postcards we’ve collected over the years. Open the door and there it is, your destination for the next few stargazing nights: the all-new Saratoga Springs hot tub, which seats 4-6 people comfortably. Maintained regularly with bromine and other chemicals suitable for those with sensitive skin, make sure to grab the cozy Onsen bathrobes from your bedrooms to make the luxury last! Both of the two bedrooms feature upscale linens, plush Nectar mattresses, and both foam and down alternative pillows for your comfort. The king bedroom features a suspended wicker hanging chair suitable for meditation and morning coffee and a book, as well as geometric art prints on the walls, a sliding door to the backyard, and a second flatscreen with Roku. The queen bedroom features some of our favorite art in the house — retro, surreal, space-themed — and also features an antique writing desk for fellow dawn warriors to inspire that masterpiece in the making. The first of two ultra-chic, recently renovated bathrooms is located just outside the bedrooms, and includes a soaking tub for two with seemingly endless supply of hot water, rain shower, heated floor, and live-edge shelves lined with Malin and Goetz and Dr. Teal’s amenities. The second bathroom is located in the office, and features a brand new shower with high pressure shower, vanity, and lighting that’ll have you feeling refreshed. Manage to pry yourself away from the amenities inside, and you’ll find that a lazy stroll around the one-acre property will prove likewise restorative. Lined with tall trees that offer dreamy silhouettes after nightfall, the only sounds you’re likely to hear are the local roosters, cows, and frogs. Located in back of the dining room is a new five-burner Charbroil propane grill that’s easy-to-use and powerful as heck! With nothing but tall trees, birdsong, and a shooting star every so often, grill masters are guaranteed to not only wow the rest of their party with their latest creation but enjoy a setting that’s full of romance and wonder while they do it. No better way to cap off a day than telling jokes and tall tales while gathered around the outdoor fire pit in comfy Adirondack chairs that couldn’t be further from “roughing it,” perhaps running over every so often for another dip in the hot tub!
