Authentic Vermont four square farmhouse for those who love cozy, quirky, historical imperfection. Centrally located in historic Randolph Ctr, with numerous ski resorts, and destination towns within an hour's drive. Lovingly updated to comfortably accommodate your extended family with a country kitchen, large beds, and original character. Built in 1812, this home is every bit funky, charming, and spacious. Enjoy a fire in our pellet stove and access numerous destinations throughout VT from here. The space If houses could tell stories, oh the stories this one would tell! Originally built by the town postmaster in 1812, and later expanded to house his livery teams and their drivers, this house has been home to many families over the generations. This house boasts so much original character, from charmingly crooked original wooden floors, to original beams in the kitchen and living room, to beautiful old windows. The rooms are large, well-sized for a big family or gathering of friends. The kitchen and living room each comfortably seat 10-12, with spaces designated for eating, enjoying a cup of coffee, curling up with a good book, or watching a movie. The kitchen was updated and outfitted by a chef friend, and you should find everything you need to prepare a gourmet meal. The appliances are new, and the large sink fits everything from all the dishes to a small child needing a bath. The bedrooms are designed for comfort and function, with two king beds, and a queen bed on the 2nd floor, and then the dormers on the 3rd floor (five single beds) designed with kids in mind. Most of the bedrooms have electric wall heaters installed for additional comfort on the coldest of Vermont nights. We’ve just added (June ‘23) air conditioning window units to all three bedrooms and the two dormers to help with warm Vermont nights. Like all old houses this one can be a bit drafty in the winter. We have layers of heating available (from the baseboard heat, to the electric wall heaters, to our favorite - the pellet stove!) but we also suggest bringing slippers or thick socks to keep your feet warm. The bathrooms are clean and functional, although a bit unsophisticated. They get the job done! This house is happiest when it is full of people enjoying the funky charm that is has to offer. It isn't fragile or precious, it wants to be loved! Guest access The J. French House at Water Street includes a three story farmhouse and attached two story barn and garage. The barn and garage will be renovated in Spring 2024, and are not accessible to guests. Other things to note Free EV charging! We have a NEMA 14-50 outlet on the front porch. Please check in with us if you plan to use this.
