Mecca Ridge | Hidden Oasis | 360° views | 10 acres
Privacy and views abound at this picturesque 1958 homesteader's cabin. A hidden oasis situated on 10 acres up a private dirt road, this 2 Bd/1 Ba home has been tastefully updated to provide the comforts of modern living amidst unspoiled rustic charm. Perched atop a majestic ridge offering supreme 360° panoramic hilltop views, Mecca Ridge (@uponmeccaridge) is the perfect retreat for anyone seeking to get away from it all and immerse themself in the wild untethered splendor of the Mojave Desert. The space Step back in time to your own private desert hideaway. A little bit country, a little bit rock 'n roll. Originally built in 1958, and expanded in the late 1970's, Mecca Ridge is a mid-century sanctuary for artists, adventure seekers, couples, and intrepid small families alike. Young children and pets should be monitored at all times as the cabin is located along a steep ridge, and wildlife and prickly cacti abound. It's the kind of place where you pick wildflowers and throw rocks, watch the hummingbirds and bees swarm, and count the jackrabbits and roadrunners. Bighorn sheep, deer, bobcat, coyotes, and birds of prey are regularly viewed on the property (not to mention tarantulas, snakes, and large insects). The location is special in that it feels totally remote and promises ultimate relaxation and secluded privacy, yet is close enough to access modern conveniences and the area's most famous attractions: 10 mins → Big Morongo Canyon Preserve 12 mins → Yucca Valley 18 mins → Pappy & Harriet's 20 mins → La Copine 25 mins→ Joshua Tree National Park 30 mins → Palm Springs 30 mins → Integratron LIVING ROOM: Vaulted wood beam ceiling, artillo cement tile, oversized picture windows with unparalleled views, 65" smart tv, and a wood burning stove to keep you cozy on those winter nights. KITCHEN & DINING ROOM: A thoughtfully appointed Ranch style kitchen with filtered water, includes pots, pans, knives, utensils and a coffee bar, modern amenities and midcentury furnished dining area. Doors lead out to the deck or outdoor patio. Spectacular views from every window. OUTDOOR PATIO: Featuring an outdoor dining area with seating for 6, mountain and valley views, assorted potted cacti, propane BBQ, and a bubbling stone fountain, a sanctuary for the hummingbirds. DECK: Expansive redwood deck with lounge area including cafe lights, a tiipii bed, and desert views overlooking hills, natural wash, wildlife and birds. Best place to enjoy your favorite beverage. PRIMARY BEDROOM: Vaulted wood beam ceiling, artillo cement tile, mountain views, a King Bed with luxury plush euro top mattress, Tempur-Pedic pillows, quality linens, and ceiling fan. SECONDARY BEDROOM: Mountain and valley views, a Queen Bed with luxe mattress, Tempur-Pedic pillows, quality linens, and individual A/C unit. BATHROOM: modern tiled shower, planet-friendly hand poured soaps, and bathroom essentials. THE LAND: Plenty of space to explore with 10 acres of unspoiled flora and fauna bordering a private nature preserve and BLM land. There are multiple paths around the property and down to the wash but they are not paved, and while they don't require a special level of athleticism, there is uneven ground, loose footing and plenty of prickly cacti friends along the way. It's all part of the adventure but please be aware of your surroundings to avoid getting hurt. We highly recommend a hike through the wash, sunrise/sunset sessions at the property's meditation rock, stargazing and s'mores at the fire pit, and taking in the stunning valley views during a game of cornhole along the edge of ridge. Guest access Guests have access to main house and 10 acres of privacy. Laundry room available for longer stays (5+ days) Please note: COLD WASH ONLY. Free parking for 2 cars in the driveway. No stairs upon entry, single level home. Easy self check in with keyless entry. Other things to note RUSTIC & REMOTE: Our cabin was built in 1958, and our goal was to retain that original charm (with some modern amenities), but note that this is a simple home, not a fancy hotel. If you are looking for a contemporary, posh and sophisticated environment, please look elsewhere. If you enjoy adventure, love rustic cabins and being off the beaten path in nature then this is the spot for you. GETTING HERE: The cabin is off the beaten path, a 7-8 mins. drive off Hwy. 62, down several unimproved dirt roads. Road conditions are considered rugged terrain; SUVs, trucks, and/or crossover vehicles are recommended, but not required. Drivers are encouraged to go slow and use the directions provided. CRITTERS & OUTSIDE ELEMENTS: Understand the desert is a wild and untamed environment that is prone to high winds, rains, and extreme temperatures. Guests may encounter all manner of flora and fauna, not limited to bats, bugs, mice, snakes, birds of prey, coyote, bobcat, lizards and other wild animals. An ideal guest would love to say hi to all of these things, agreeing to share the space while maintaining and respecting distance. Exposure to any of the above will not constitute a refund or discount. Consider it all part of the adventure and do your part by being mindful to keep doors closed so critters do not sneak inside! Please do not leave children or pets unattended outside. SECURITY CAMERAS: For guest safety and property protection, a camera is facing the parking area and entrance. Do not tamper with or disable the camera. Our guest’s privacy is paramount, hangout areas and interior spaces are without cameras and completely private. PETS: Pets are welcome to visit Mecca Ridge (limited to 1 dog maximum) but please let us know in advance of your stay. There is a $50 pet fee assessed and payable in advance of your stay. We do not recommend bringing dogs that are young, suffer from separation anxiety or aren't well trained, as they are prone to scratch/damage. You will be responsible for any damage caused by your animal so we want to make sure you know this ahead of time. The property itself is not fenced and there is all manner of wildlife in the desert so never leave your animal unattended outside. Please crate your furry family member if prone to separation anxiety, and clean up after your pet. EVENTS: Please reach out if you're interested in renting the property for an event including shoots. All events (big and small) need prior approval. We are pleased to offer assistance for special event planning. We have developed relationships with trusted vendors and like to support and showcase local artists and creators. Registration number CESTRP-2022-01844
