"Seal Watch” is a charming, heated cottage with scenic ocean rented weekly Sat to Sat in June-August (3-day minimum stay September-October). The cottage has a private deep water dock. It's only a 5 minute walk to a sandy swimming beach and nature trails. Friendship is a charming lobstering village that my family has enjoyed for 60 years. We are sure you will find it delightful as well! The space This unique three bedroom cottage in Friendship is back on the market after years of one family lovingly renting it for full summers. The cozy cottage has a spacious living room with a working fireplace and dining area, eat-in kitchen, bathroom with standup shower and three bedrooms upstairs. One bedroom has a queen bed; one a full bed; and one a twin bed. There are spacious closets for each bedroom. There is a propane heater that will heat the entire cottage, which is nice on chilly Maine nights. Each bedroom has a window fan. A deck off the cottage offers ocean views, and features an outdoor table and umbrella, a gas grill and a charcoal grill, fire pit and additional outdoor seating. The cottage does not have a dishwasher, or a washer and dryer. There is a laundromat located 20 minutes away in Waldoboro. Friendship is a lobstering village and an off the beaten path kind of place. It has a scenic harbor that is often a destination spot for photographers, as well as beautiful roads for walking and biking. A fantastic seafood restaurant in town is open four days a week and the well -stocked local market is open seven days a week. Lobsters can be bought directly off the docks in the harbor. Friendship is 1.5 hours north of Portland, 30 minutes from Damariscotta and Rockland and 45 minutes from Camden, where there is an amazing variety of restaurants, shops, museums, galleries, hiking trails, lakes, and other attractions. Guest access You will have the entire cottage to yourselves. The property has a house in addition to the cottage that may be occupied by the owners. However, the cottage and house are quite far apart and the cottage has total privacy. The dock is shared only with the owners. Other things to note The cottage is located in Muscongus Bay, well known for being a wonderful location for boating and kayaking. There are several islands within easy kayaying distance that you can pull up on and enjoy. Seals are often seen from the dock, and there are ledges with abundant seals nearby. Porpoises can also be seen occasionally. In addition there is a wide variety of bird life including gulls and terns, loons, cormorants, osprey and bald eagles, as well as warblers.
