Modern, newly renovated 2 bedroom/1.5 bath cottage nestled in a 96-acre Scenic Hudson nature preserve on the Hudson River in Esopus. The perfect location to relax, bird watch or explore the Hudson Valley with seasonal views of the Hudson. Walk to hiking trails, fishing, picnicking, a kayak launch area, an orchard and local winery. Only a 1.5 hour drive from NYC, 25 minutes to Poughkeepsie MetroNorth, and less than 10 minutes to Kingston’s charming Roundout (waterfront). The best of both worlds! The space (Town of Esopus STR Permit: 23-268/ Ulster County Cert. of Authority: 11770) This cozy, contemporary 2 bedroom/1.5 bath home has all of the amenities and luxuries that you could hope for without compromising its charm or the natural beauty of its unique location in a nature preserve. The main bathroom includes a soaking tub to relax after a day of hiking. Or if you prefer, take a nap in the built-in daybed nook or under a tree hammock in the backyard. Sit and enjoy views of the nature preserve from 2 decks and a stone patio. Listen to the creek running alongside the house or to the hundreds of bird species that visit the preserve throughout the year. Grill some local produce on the brick charcoal grill (a gas grill is also available). Finish the night around a fire pit or playing a few board games or 80s video games on the arcade machine. All of this, with a fenced in yard for Fido to safely hang out. Bedrooms The master bedroom has a king-sized bed, partial views of the Hudson River (end of fall- mid spring) and its own private deck. The second bedroom is located upstairs. It has a queen-sized bed and skylights that provide lots of natural sunlight and moonlight. Living areas & kitchen The house features an open-concept living area, and includes a modern gas fireplace — perfect for humans and pups to cozy up to for a lazy Sunday or on a snowy day. The kitchen is fully stocked for cooking, and has modern appliances, including a dishwasher. Olive oil, salt, pepper and coffee/tea is provided, as well as a few other condiments and spices. A washer and dryer are located in the basement, along with a half bathroom. The arcade machine with 80s video games is also located in the basement. So that you can fully enjoy the nature views, there are no window coverings in the main living/dining areas. Bathrooms The main bathroom has a heated floor, a soaking tub and a large separate shower with a skylight. The bathroom has two entrances - one directly from the master bedroom and the other entrance from the living area. A half bathroom with a modern utility sink is located in the basement. Backyard, patio & decks The large backyard has a fully enclosed 6 foot fence and plenty of space to play some games or hangout under a shady tree on the hammocks. There is also a fire pit and Solo stove to spend your evening around. Two separate decks and a large stone patio surround the house. A small creek runs below the stone patio. There is also a built-in brick charcoal barbecue and gas grill. Please note that charcoal is not provided. Although the backyard is fully-fenced in, please be aware that because the cottage is surrounded by a nature preserve, you may encounter some of the neighboring wildlife living in the area. Over the years we have observed numerous insects/spiders and animals, including: deer, groundhogs, chipmunks, raccoons, skunks, squirrels, foxes, coyotes, wild turkeys, rabbits, possums, snapping turtles, snakes, frogs/toads, salamanders, field mice, moles, bats, eagles, hawks, owls and bears.
