Please note there is a large drop-off on the other side of the front yard that looks down to the river below. Please watch your step and do not get too close to the edge as you could slip and fall. ***How to Build a Fire in a Fireplace Open the Damper – Ensure the damper is fully open to allow smoke to escape through the chimney. Clean the Fireplace – Remove old ashes and debris for better airflow. Create a Base – Place crumpled newspaper or fire starters in the center of the fireplace. Add Kindling – Stack small, dry sticks or kindling in a teepee or crisscross pattern over the newspaper. Arrange the Logs – Place larger, dry logs on top of the kindling, leaving space for air circulation. Light the Fire – Use a long match or lighter to ignite the newspaper at multiple points. DO NOT CLOSE THE FIREPLACE GLASS DOORS! They will bust. Close the fireplace screens. This will keep the small burning embers contained. inside the fireplace. Maintain the Fire – Add logs as needed, keeping the fire small and controlled. Monitor and Extinguish – Never leave the fire unattended.
