The space The house is light and airy and exquisitely decorated to echo the charm of this historic maritime community. Featuring stunning bay views from all water-side rooms there are expansive living areas with 2 fireplaces, a fully appointed chef’s kitchen and dining room and a large basement games and entertainment room. The home provides all the high-end amenities you will need. In addition to the bedrooms and bathrooms in the main house, there is a Top Deck Penthouse studio suite which is accessible from the upper landing of the main house, if desired, or through a separate exterior entrance at the side of the property. This private studio suite with vaulted ceilings and spectacular bay views, boasts a private deck, a full kitchen and laundry, spa bathroom with walk-in glass shower, king bed, seating area with desk and separate TV room with sectional. The penthouse suite is an ideal addition for larger groups requiring private space for parents, extended family members, or newlyweds – sleeps 2. (Note: if the suite is not required please refer to our listing “Brooklin House on Herrick Bay w/ Full Water Views” for a reduced rate if only renting the main house.) The spacious 2+ acre grounds feature outdoor dining areas that seat 12 comfortably with a fire pit and BBQ, several seating areas surrounded by beautiful landscaped lawns, gardens and a stone patio. Ample places and spaces to sit and lounge or wander the property taking in these unique views with plentiful wildlife and shorebirds. Enjoy coffee in the gazebo by the bay, take a swim off the point or launch your kayaks behind the barn water access. Lawn games such as Badminton are also made available to guests for some outdoor play time! The newly renovated Owl barn provides the opportunity for resident guests only, to arrange intimate events for friends and family in the large barn space. The use of the barn event area is by separate negotiation with the owner Victoria. If you are interested in this aspect, please let us know. No barn events will be scheduled during your stay otherwise please rest assured. Guest access You will have complete & unlimited access to the grounds and house during your stay. If the owner Victoria is in residence at the far end of the barn (furthest from the house) during your stay, she will maintain a very low profile and will not disturb your enjoyment of the property in any way. Victoria deeply respects your privacy in this way. The town of Brooklin is 5 minutes drive away from Brooklin House and has a General Store with gas pump, Post Office, Restaurant, gift shops, Library etc. and parking is easy. The town of Blue Hill is approximately 20 minutes drive away which has several grocery stores, shops, bank, restaurants, hospital, pharmacy etc. We will e-mail you our house manual and local tips once your reservation is confirmed. Other things to note We have two listings with Airbnb. One is for the main house and Penthouse as described here that sleeps 10. If you don't need quite so much accommodation, we also rent our main house excluding the Penthouse, for a lower rate. If you decide you'd prefer to exclude the Penthouse from your rental and opt for the lower rate, please rest assured that we do not then rent our Penthouse to a third party and therefore your privacy is respected during your stay. Unless the Penthouse is booked by you, it will remain unoccupied and inaccessible otherwise.
