Other things to note This is a birder's paradise! The biodiversity is astounding and the climate delicious, not as sweltering as the coast with lovely mountain breezes. The sea is a gorgeous 30 minute drive away. The local community of ex-pats and Ticos is vibrant with many artists, healers and permaculturists. There are stellar eco-adventures available nearby, and fabulous treks right out the door.
