Blackburn Cabins is quietly nestled in the forest along the historic Wagon Road between McCarthy and Kennicott, Alaska. Our eight eco-friendly, private log cabins offer a comfortable place to rest after a day of exploring the Wrangell-St. Elias National Park. The space Stay with us in your own luxuriously rustic cabin in the woods. Spend the night away from the hustle and bustle of downtown McCarthy, but close enough to walk or bike to downtown McCarthy to have a nice meal, get a beer, take part in Thursday night open mic or Friday night softball game, visit the museum, catch some live music, or take the shuttle up the Kennicott. Each cabin is equipped with super comfy beds (either 2 full size or 1 queen size), a kitchenette (with a single burner cooktop, dishware, and running water), a shared gas grill with plenty of pots and pans, a drinking water filtration system, refreshing outdoor showerhouses with unlimited hot water (also considered a luxury in this neck of the woods!), real Alaskan outhouses, 100% cotton or bamboo linens and towels, a propane heater in each cabin (allowing for year round reservations!), and multiple fire rings for campfires! Guest access Blackburn Cabins is located in the center of the Wrangell-St. Elias National Park, along the five mile Wagon Road connecting McCarthy and Kennicott (within a mile from the footbridge and McCarthy). We are near local tourist sites, convenient to the airstrip (which now provides fuel!), yet in touch with nature and close to the land which is the Wrangell-St. Elias National Park! If you drive or take a shuttle to the end of the road, you park there and walk over the Kennicott River on a footbridge. We’ll meet you on the other side and drive you the mile to Blackburn Cabins. From there, you can explore by hiking, biking, or shuttle. Full arrival details will be sent when you make your reservation! Other things to note Explore the Root Glacier on your own - we now offer crampon rentals! Don’t be shy about calling and asking about road and weather conditions, and what’s happening now that you just can’t miss out on… There’s always some adventure waiting here in the Wrangells! It is the largest (and we think the most beautiful!) National Park in the United States and we hope you will join us here to enjoy the Wrangell Mountains on your Alaskan adventure!
