Guests don't want to leave our forest retreat with hiking and sight seeing galore. Bring your bikes and ATVs! There are also many old logging roads accessible by vehicle for those who'd like to get off the beaten path but don't hike, bike or ATV. Granite Butte Lookout: We're 7 miles from this scenic point (day hiking for some). CDT Hikers: We're 3 miles from the outfitter on Stemple Pass. Guests may have their pkgs shipped here. The space The Granite Butte Retreat is located in a remote area of the Helena National Forest. The second bed is a hideaway bed located in the living room. At guest request, we may be able to construct a tent with an air mattress outside for 2nd sleeping quarters instead of using the couch. A trail starts out the front door up a 1/3 mile incline with 600 feet of elevation gain, so it's a phenomenal daily workout with beautiful mountain views. Some guests take their time with many rests, and some really get their heart pumping by running up the trail. This trail ends on an old logging road system which offers miles and miles of further hiking opportunities. As well, for a gentler start, another logging road originates several hundred feet from our driveway and also offers miles and miles of hiking opportunities. There are also remote roads that can be driven by a vehicle if you want to experience the forest scenery but are not able to hike. Note: We provide wi-fi for wi-fi calling and your phone /computer connectivity. The cabin location is too blissfully remote for cell service access. Guest access The home is available seasonally, between Apr 1 and Nov 30. The home is not available in the winter. The home is single story but access is up 8 stairs, which open to a deck. The home's door is accessed from the deck. Other things to note Our location is 35 miles from Helena. Groceries may be ordered online at the Helena Super 1 Foods ahead of your stay. We are too far away for store delivery but we may be able to pick up your order and stage your groceries in your apartment the day prior to your arrival for $30. Please coordinate with us ahead of your order to make sure we are available to do this pickup. CDT Hiker Guests: If you need more items to restock than are available from Super 1 Foods, please let us know and we'll try to accommodate you. We may be able to provide airport pickup from HLN for $60 each way. Pickups from other airports may be available upon request with the cost depending on additional distance. Included in the $60 is grocery pickup at no additional cost if you have ordered groceries online in advance from the Helena 24 hour Super 1 Foods so the order is ready for pick up on our way through. Also, we may be able to provide some amazing guided hiking tours, generally $750 per group for a day event, which includes transportation. Discuss your needs prior to your stay so we can try to be available on your dates of preference.
