Due to our water source from deep inside the earth, water pressure may vary. We use natural methods for cleaning our indigo plant-dyed linens. Celebrate the imperfections. Food lovers: Bring the essentials and pick up the main course in 29 Palms or Joshua Tree or make a reservation at your choice of local restaurants. The house supplies cooking and dishware, organic cooking oils, spices, and coffee /tea. The drinking water comes from our healing mineral waters and we have a reverse osmosis water filter in the kitchen. We offer reliable cell and Wifi service but no TV or cable. It's time to reconnect with nature and loved ones. Drape yourself on the patio loungers for uninterrupted peace and seclusion while stargazing and sun-worshipping. Pet paradise (with a few house rules): We welcome your dog buddies for an additional fee. Just let us know in advance, and please bring any special amenities your dog might need. Please, never leave your special companion unattended at our house. We provide a dog bowl, a small cushioned bed, dog toys, and pet wipes. Please refresh the dog's bed upon leaving with our non-toxic essential oil pet spray. Additional notes: Entrance is on a dirt road. To get to the cabin, you'll be driving on dirt roads for about 1 minute off the main tarmac road. Several different kinds of vehicles have been able to access the house with no issues from a Prius to a Mustang. You don’t need 4 wheel drive. Parking: Free private parking on site. Please note, only foot traffic is allowed to beyond the fence and gate to reduce impact on our burgeoning wild landscape and protect the animals who make their habitat there. PLEASE DO NOT park your vehicle inside the gate. There is plenty of parking for several vehicles in the cul-de-sac adjacent to the entrance outside the gate. We outfit the house with eco-friendly decor: Solid teak furniture, life-giving plants, vegan body wash, and dish soap. All linens are organic cotton or microfiber and hand-dyed with natural indigo. Guests have access to all communal indoor and outdoor spaces, and bedrooms based on occupancy. Transient Occupancy Tax - A 7% TOT tax required by San Bernardino County is included in the nightly rate. For our area, Airbnb does not yet break this down as an extra line item but rather is included in the base price. Ready for a solid desert escape? Come stay. Other things to note Welcome to the high desert! Upon booking this property you fully acknowledge that you are in a rural area near the Mojave Desert. Location: 3 hours drive from LA, San Diego, or Las Vegas, 15 minutes to 29 Palms Joshua Tree Park entrance, just 25 min from Joshua Tree National Park's North entrance. 5 minutes to the legendary Palms music venue, 20 minutes to downtown 29 Palms with its blossoming nightlife, restaurants, cafes, and boutiques, 35 minutes to downtown Joshua Tree, 60 minutes to Pioneertown, and 75 minutes to Palm Springs and PSP Intl Airport. By renting this house you are agreeing to, recognizing, and fully understanding certain things, including, but not limited to: The desert is raw and extreme. The weather can be (but is not limited to) extremely hot, extremely cold, and extremely windy. Weather can change fast and flooding of dirt roads can occur. Power outages can occur. We do not have a generator but will work with the power company to report and restore potential outages. Inclement weather, power outages, and desert animals are not subject to changes in stay/price. We do not offer refunds due to weather or nature/animal-related issues. Always check the weather forecast before you head to the desert. 4 wheel drive is a must in heavy rain. Please observe the 15mph limit when driving on the dirt road. Summer is the monsoon season and floodings occur! - NO parties. Any additional guests on the property who are not included in your reservation must be pre-approved by host. - NO glitter, single use plastic, confetti, silly string, balloons, fireworks, or other small pieces of trash that are difficult for us to clean. Use of these items will result in a minimum $200 additional cleaning charge. We disapprove of trash blowing around the sensitive ecological areas of the desert where it could damage plants and animals’ habitat. See additional charges below. - We have a strict no-smoking and NO FIRES policy on the property. Violation of this policy will result in a $500 penalty. Please do not smoke anything indoors or outdoors. $500 charge if you smoke on this property. See additional charges below. The desert is a high-risk wildfire area. DO NOT START THE NEXT WILDFIRE. -Please keep doors closed to keep nature out. -Very important: We are on an off-grid septic system and our toilets can only handle toilet paper. Please do not flush Tampons, Paper Towels, or Make-Up Pads down the toilet. House Rules: Check-In/Out: - We have check-in and check-out times. Any exceptions require written permission. We have a 15-minute grace period at our 10 am checkout. Beyond that, we reserve the right to charge up to $100 per hour. We have a cleaning crew scheduled and we do our best to be prompt. -Self-check-in is at 4 pm or later. We would love to support early check-in, when possible. If interested, please message us on the day of your arrival anytime after 1 pm and we will ask housekeeping what time your house will be ready. Please let us know your estimated time of arrival (ETA). Check-out is at 10 am. Eco-Consciousness Practices: -All of our linens are cotton or microfiber. -We wash them with natural soaps and tie-dye with natural indigo dye. Water/ Ice -The house is on a private well, we have installed a reverse osmosis filtration system to provide drinkable water from a separate faucet in the kitchen. -Ice maker in the fridge provided or bring your own ice. -We do have 2 fire extinguishers on the property in case of emergency. Parking: -Foot traffic only inside the gate and fence. The parking is outside the fence only. Please do not pull your car into the property inside the fence, it will damage the plant life and animals habitat. -Please park any vehicles, including OHVs or ATVs on the exterior of the chainlink fence only. Trash: -The trash container is next to the front gate and is emptied every second Friday around noon. -All trash should be in tightly closed trash bags and placed inside the container or the container will attract rats, mice, coyotes, etc. -There is no recycling bin. Please consider hauling your recyclables with you and help save the eco system. Do not throw trash outside. Attracts bugs and coyotes. Do not leave food out inside or outside- it will attract bugs and coyotes. Noise Ordinance: Please be a good neighbor.: The property is located in San Bernadino County with strict Short-Term rental regulations. The county will strictly follow its guidelines. They are not allowing parties, loud behavior/ loud music, or dangerous behavior. Quiet hours MUST be respected and the sound turned off after 10 pm. Soaking Tub: -Use at your own risk. No lifeguard on duty. -Keep it clean and take a shower before using the facilities. -there is a small wooden board that is kept inside of the soaking tub when it is not being used this is to allow critters to use. Please replace it after you finished using it. -Please use the drain cover when finished using the tub to keep debris out. -There is a small solar powered lantern next to the fridge for you to use as you make your way to the soaking tub at night. Feel free. Maximum Occupancy: -8 persons, 2 dogs. All guests must be registered. Cameras: -1 video camera is located on the house monitoring the gate entrance only. You acknowledge receipt of the Notice of Additional Fees listed below, should violations of any House Rules occur. By booking this property you have read and understood the extra fees that will incur with violating the booking or the house rules/ check-in/out instructions. Check-In/Out: We have a 15-minute grace period at our 10 am checkout. Beyond that, we reserve the right to charge up to $100 per hour. Pets: Your small, well-behaved, flea-treated dog is welcome with a pet fee of $40 (2 dogs max). If your dog is a service animal you will need to provide us with the paperwork and it will stay for free. You still must notify us about the dog as we absolutely do need to plan for extra cleaning and pest control after your stay. A dog bed is provided. Please feel free to bring your own blankets. Your dog must never be left alone on the property. Pick up after your dog, and properly close the poop-bag. Bringing an extra dog without notification will result in ending your stay. No refunds. No excessive barking, please. If your dog is a loud barker you must leave the property with respect to our neighbors. San Bernadino County rule. Smoking: We have a strict no-smoking policy on the property. Violation of this policy will result in a $500 penalty. Please do not smoke anything indoors or outdoors. $500 charge if you smoke on this property. Plumbing: The house is on septic, please be mindful to ONLY flush human waste and toilet paper. You will be responsible for paying for the plumber/repair if it is determined you caused the backup/clogged drain(s). Please be mindful of the dishwasher and don't allow food to go in it, it will cause a backup/flooding underneath sink. Cleanliness: No glitter, confetti, silly string, balloons, fireworks, or other small pieces of trash that are difficult for us to clean. Use of these items will result in a minimum $200 additional cleaning charge. $200.00 extra charge if the house is left excessively dirty and causes cleaning to take more than 5 hours. Noise Complaints: Noise travels quickly, so be respectful of your surroundings. Quiet hours are between 10 pm and 7 am. San Bernadino County regulations. You are of course welcome to enjoy a night under the skies, but you must use your small voices and not play any music. $1000.00 fine for the first neighbor complaint, and you must vacate the premises upon receipt of complaint with no refund. Safety Precautions: -45 min by car to the nearest hospital (High Desert Medical in Joshua Tree) -Desert animals dwell near the property. Keep an eye out for yourself, your pets, and your kids. We recommend closed shoes, and also to have a flashlight handy when it is dark. -No drugs or weapons of any kind are allowed on the property. -When booking this property you acknowledge that you are on your own in the middle of nowhere. Weather, wildlife, power outages and your behavior is out of our control. -When booking this property you promise to keep the owner free of harm from any and all claims.
