Enjoy a peaceful stay at the Railroad Street Retreat, originally built in the 1840s, and recently renovated. This cozy 540-square-foot guest suite is perfect for a romantic getaway, a writing retreat, a leaf-peeping tour, and more. Located in the heart of the village, you are a few minutes' walk from the Appalachian Trail, the Falls Village Inn taproom and restaurant, and a short drive from antique shops, breweries, markets, galleries, cafes, and more. The space The Railroad Street Retreat is the first floor of a three-story house on a small property set back from the road. The host lives on the upper two floors in an entirely separate living space. This studio has a queen-sized bed as well as a living room chair that converts to a twin bed. There is a living room, a kitchenette, and a dining area that doubles as a work space. The sheets are 100% organic cotton percale. This property would work well for anyone with mobility challenges, as the parking is right in front of the unit, and everything is on one floor. The windows and French doors face west, filling the studio with sunlight in the afternoons and evenings. It's very quiet here; a true retreat. There are beautiful walks and hikes throughout the area, many accessible without a car. Wildlife sightings are common. Local and regional highlights include Tanglewood, Lime Rock Park, Jacob's Pillow, Norman Rockwell Museum, Kripalu, and more. KID (OR INNER CHILD) BONUS: A small freight train goes through a couple of times a day and is visible from the front windows! The Falls Village Historical Society and Museum across the street used to be a bustling hub of a train station. Guest access Your entrance is through the French doors on the ground level. There is one parking space right in front of the studio, and free parking on the street. Other things to note KITCHENETTE: There is a 2-burner electric stove, and a small Breville toaster/convection oven. There are plenty of pots and pans. COFFEE: There is a single-serving French press as well as a 4-cup drip coffee machine. Ground coffee and filters are provided. There is also an electric kettle for tea. LAUNDRY: There is a washer and dryer in the unit, and laundry detergent is provided. You will have access to a foldable hamper. DINING AREA: There are two chairs at the table, but the table does expand to seat 4 people, and there are two additional chairs in the utility closet, in case you'd like to have guests! ENTERTAINMENT: There are puzzles and games, as well as a record player and a handful of records! KIDS: With advanced notice, kid dishes and/or a portable crib can be provided. AIR CONDITIONING: Because the studio is built into a hillside, it naturally stays refreshingly cool, even on the hottest days. I do have a window AC unit available if you would like! Let me know ahead of time, and I can install it. I don't have it installed all the time because it takes up a bit of precious window real estate, and I'd rather have guests decide whether or not they want the AC.
