Sol Mar is our family home. We realized our dream of becoming part time island residents a few years ago so our theme, "Mi casa, tu casa" truly comes from the heart. Sol Mar is a gathering place, a dream realized through love and founded on the premise that we must take the time to slow down, enjoy each other, rejuvenate, love, laugh and play. Our hope is that every family, every person, and every child that comes to Sol Mar experiences the wonder that is Sol Mar and the magic she creates. The space The main level of the house (which is elevated to 23 ft, offers breathtaking bird’s eye view of the Gulf of Mexico, Pine Island Sound, the Salty Approach Airstrip. The lanai is the perfect place to enjoy the sunsets and sunrise, read a book, create island arts and crafts, take a nap or simply do nothing at all. Since the house is adjacent to the island’s private airstrip, watching small airplanes and helicopters land, take off and taxi down the runway is a thrill that you will not soon forget. The fully equipped kitchen is located on this level so you can enjoy the amazing views while preparing meals. The dining room table is made of distressed wood. Here you will enjoy countless hours dining or playing games with the family. The main level has a full bathroom complete with a shower and tub for ease of bathing little ones or enjoying a soak. Two bedrooms are also located on this floor: one room has a queen size bed and an entrance foyer that can be closed to allow this bedroom to become the second master suite. The other bedroom has a full futon and 2 twin beds. Both rooms are tastefully decorated and are the perfect place to rest after a day at the beach. On the second level of the house is the master bedroom retreat complete with two private balconies. The “Sunrise Balcony” offers views of the sun as it rises over Pine Island Sound to the east. From the comfort of the outdoor bed, you can also gaze at the Milky Way and all the wonders that the night sky has to offer. Shooting stars and a meteor shower or two are not an uncommon occurrence. From the “Sunset Balcony” you will enjoy the sunset over the Gulf of Mexico, views of Cayo Costa and so much more. The master suite has a romantic canopy bed and a private sitting area. The master bath has a large two person shower as well as an over-sized soaking tub – the perfect place to rejuvenate. Also located on the second level is a separate bonus sleeping room with a trundle bed that comfortably accommodates two. This bonus room is well appointed with a mall dresser and makes a for a cozy place for kids and kids at heart! STILL NEED MORE BEDS for those friends and family that just could not stay behind? We know what that is like! Our family is made up of 9 siblings so we understand the importance of spending time together making memories. Sol Mar offers sleeping accommodation for up to two additional people in beds on two convertible twin ottomans and room for two more on the convertible sofa (queen bed) in the living room. Ground Level The cabana/game/teen room has a well-appointed living area with a smart TV, refrigerator, microwave, full bathroom, queen bed. Game table, foosball, variety of board games and activities. The cabana is a great place to hang out. Sol mar provides lots of outdoor toys and activities such as a large portable pool and play center for little ones, ping pong, bocce ball, volleyball, spike ball to name a few. You can spend a morning on the ocean kayaks fishing or frolicking with dolphins and manatees. When the gulf is calm you can paddle and explore the wilder side of the island, the preserve. We also provide an outdoor grill, dining table, sitting areas and hammocks. Main Level Travertine limestone floors throughout, fully equipped kitchen, dining area, separate laundry room with full size washer and dryer; full bathroom with shower and tub, one bedroom with a queen size bed and foyer entrance that can become a second master, another bedroom with a queen futon and two twin beds, flat screen television in each bedroom, living area with TV, and a game and video library, lanai and wraparound decking throughout most of the exterior of the house. Second Level Master bedroom suite with a king bed, 65" smart TV, separate sitting area and desk, master bath with a deep, jetted tub, double sinks, a shower for two, sunset and sunrise balconies. This level also has a separate and private sleeping room, dresser and a trundle bed that comfortably sleeps two. Sol Mar on North Captiva is the island home of your dreams. Sol Mar will live in your memories, calling you back to your home away from home. Ultimately, you will return. As for the views…well you’ll just have to see for yourself! Guest access Guests will have access to the entire home which includes: 4 bedrooms (sleeps 10) The bedrooms are beautifully decorated and feature flat screen televisions, luxurious linens and quality bedding. A separate meditation and yoga garden, Polynesian daybed and hammock complete this wonderful garden Living room Beautifully decorated living room with Polynesian flair. Large comfortable couches (one is a queen bed), smart TV, and 2 convertible twin beds which will accommodate the entire family. Outdoor play area Porch/veranda Other things to note Travel on island is available via golf cart or bicycles. One golf cart is included in the rental price. With stays of 7 or more nights, we included,access to NCI Club with its tennis courts, two large, heated pools, outdoor bar and restaurants. Bicycles can also be checked out on a first come basis. Boats and Fun on North Captiva offers rentals for the more adventurous including paddle boards, jet skis and small boats. There are several companies that offer on shore and off shore fishing excursions and equipment rental. We even have the wonderful North Captiva Fishing Lady that will not only teach you how to fish, she will also teach you how to prepare and cook your catch. North Captiva Island also boosts a natural preserve with miles of secluded, pristine beaches perfect for hiking, exploring and picnics.
