Conveniently located yet private, ideal for adults or families with older children seeking outdoor adventures (walking/biking trails and kayak right from the property), relaxation, or both! The space This renovated 1874 Victorian has ten foot pocket doors separating the three large living areas, allow for openness or privacy. A curved staircase leads to the three upstairs bedrooms (all of which have lake views, 2 have A/C) and a bathroom which features the original claw foot bathtub with shower. Another half-bath is located in one of the bedrooms as well as a downstairs half-bath with washer and dryer. The modern kitchen has a refrigerator, dishwasher, electric stove, and a large microwave. The main living room (there are 3) overlooks Lake Champlain and the Adirondacks through a huge bay window. The second room has Roku TV, comfy couch and A/C. The third room has Roku TV, couch and chair, and is also a perfect place to hide away with a good book or catch up on work. Broadband WiFi is included. Sip your morning coffee, enjoy cold drinks and hors d’oeuvres in the afternoon, lounge, read a favorite book or watch some of our local wildlife on the spacious front porch. Bald eagles often visit the enormous cottonwood tree that is the namesake of the property! Sprawling lawns and plenty of shade are perfect for all sorts of activities and games. Enjoy lakeside dining in the gorgeous open-air gazebo, complete with views of spectacular sunsets over the Adirondack Mts. and the twinkling lights of nearby towns reflecting off the lake. Later in the evening, gather around the fire pit and settle into the Adirondack chairs. A sloping path leads to 500 ft. of private beachfront with shallow water that makes it perfect for fishing, kayaking, and canoeing in the summer and ice fishing and ice skating in the winter. Paddle south and under the beautiful new Champlain Bridge or across the lake to visit the forts at Crown Point, NY. In winter, snowshoe or X-country ski the forts' trails, which offer spectacular views up the lake. If you don’t have your own kayaks, snowshoes or X-country skis, you can rent them nearby. Or just pull up a chair and sit by the shore...listening to the lapping waves and watching as boats float by is the best way we know of to let go of all your stresses. The best part is, we have no immediate neighbors, so the shoreline is completely private. You may never want to leave! (but if you do, read about all there is to do in the Location section below) Please note property is not suitable for children under 12. Also of note is that while the house is close to a main road, it is surprisingly private.
