This spacious private room with NO EXTRA FEES is located inside a stylish home a short 5-minute walk to the beach and to all that Birch Bay and the area have to offer. The room is quiet, clean, and comfortable. There is ample space for two people. The room is tastefully furnished and includes a workspace, dresser, and comfortable queen-size bed with premium linens. The bathroom is steps away directly across from the room. Amenities include a 42" HDTV, mini fridge, and Keurig coffee maker. The space The room is located inside a well-kept home overlooking the bay. Guests are welcome to spend time on the patio catching sun and watching the boats and birds fly by. Sunsets are stunning here. The property is modern and well maintained. The mellow vibe in the house adds to the relaxing and laid back nature of this place. We are <15 mins from the US/Canada Border, 10 mins to the Nexus office, 15 mins to Bellingham Airport, 30 mins to Vancouver Airport (depending on border wait), 20 mins to Bellingham and WWU, <90 mins to Mount Baker Ski area. Many guests stay with us prior to entering or upon exiting Canada. There is a multitude of outdoor activities here from beach combing to hiking, boating & fishing, skiing & mountain biking. Here you'll experience a slower pace of life and real relaxation. We are a quick drive from Bellingham with it's multitude of breweries and vibrant downtown restarant scene. Or hop across the border and visit British Columbia Canada for the day and a more urban environment. Go hiking to find serene lakes and secret waterfalls. Or grab you snow gear and head up to Mt. Baker, the ski area with the highest average annual snowfall in the world! The possibilities for fun and exploration are truly endless here. If you need ideas for fun things to do just ask! Guest access You will have access to the main door of the house (keyless doorcode) and the foyer in addition to your private room and washroom (directly across the hall from where you'll be staying). This part of the home is generally quiet and gets little use. You may enjoy the patio space day or night. While the upper deck space is not provided for guests to use you may move chairs from the deck to the patio if you wish. During your stay I try to greet guests upon arrival but that isn't always possible. During your stay I allow all my guests privacy and follow their lead as far as interaction goes. However, I am always happy to chat or to provide information if asked. If you need anything I am usually on site or nearby and happy to help. You can call/text me and I will respond as soon as possible (I am available to guests 8am -11pm 7 days a week. If you contact me outside of those hours I may not get back to you until the next morning). However, please call/text me anytime and I will respond as soon as possible. Other things to note There is no dedicated parking space but I try to find my guests parking nearby or make room for you in the driveway whenever possible. While it isn't usually a problem finding a space it can vary a lot from one day to the next which means you may move parking spaces during your stay. Once you arrive and see how things are set up you'll generally not have any problem finding a spot as you come and go. Still, there is no dedicated parking for this unit. Your understanding and flexibility in this respect is appreciated. The main electrical panel for the home is located in this room. In the event of a breaker tripping I will need to access the panel in the room. This would be an exceptionally rare occurrence. Still, I like to make guests aware so there are no surprises. Bruno the house dog likes to sleep in the entry. He will likely bark as you approach the door the first time or two. Once he knows you he won't bark anymore. Bruno is harmless but if you linger in front of the door without coming in he can get increasingly vocal and agitated wondering why someone is outside the door but not coming in. His bark makes him sound much more imposing than he really is. If his barking bothers you there's a simple solution; don't linger at the door and come in the house. Bruno is a highlight for most of my guests. However, if you don't like dogs he may be a negative since you will encounter him frequently coming and going. He may pester you to play ball or ask for a belly rub. No matter what he tells you it is not a requirement while staying here. Please consider whether a small furry creature greeting you every time you come into the house is something you would enjoy. Bruno is a character and he has learned how to get humans attention with a variety of tactics. He will make sure you know he is there and that may not be the greatest thing for everyone so please keep that in mind when booking. You are staying inside someone's home so you can expect to hear typical household noises off and on throughout the day. However, it should never become something that is distracting or inhibits your rest and relaxation. I often play music inside the house. Many guests comment positively on this aspect of their stay. If the music in the house (or noise generally) is ever bothersome please say something as it can be easily addressed with a simple message to me. The kitchen is not included in the rental. Full scale meal prep is not really possible due to the way the room is configured. Basic meal prep is find and a microwave can be provided by request. No outside cooking devices or open flames allowed please. Doordash, Ubereats and several other delivery services operate in the area and can fetch you meals when needed. If you are bringing recreational equipment that needs storage onsite (e.g. bikes, kayaks) please let me know in advance and what your space needs are so I can create a place for you to safely store your gear.
