Located 5 miles from downtown Harrisonburg and JMU, 3 miles from EMU, 11 miles from Bridgewater College, and 30 miles from Shenandoah National Park, The Studio at Simple Hill Farm offers a quiet, private place to rest while visiting the Shenandoah Valley. Built in 2023-24, The Studio is an open floor plan designed to be accessible, bright, simple and modern. Simple Hill Farm is a fiber farm with merino sheep. The room adjoining this rental space is our fiber processing and plant dye studio. The space With a queen size bed and a firm sofa bed, ideal for children, this space comfortably sleeps up to four people. The kitchenette is equipped with a compact fridge, microwave, coffee maker, hot pot, dishes and utensils. Eat at our restored wooden farm table while enjoying the view out a large picture window of the orchard with a flock of chickens. The bathroom is accessible with grab bars and an ADA compliant shower. Guest access Check in is easy with parking by The Studio and an accessible keyless entry. The spacious private furnished patio is for you to enjoy time outside. Other things to note All sheets and towels are organic cotton and we use non-toxic cleaning supplies. When possible, linens are line dried. This building was built to be energy efficient with extra insulation and efficient appliances. All are welcome here, this is a safe space. Our family lives in the house next to The Studio. The patio and main entrance to The Studio, are on the opposite side of the building from our house to allow privacy for our guests. Our farm includes sheep, chickens, cats and a dog. Cattle run in the neighboring fields. Expect to hear farm county sounds! Our dog barks when people approach and may howl some. When guests are here, he is on a leash when not in our fenced yard. The cats may come over to visit. The grey one is sweet but she can scratch for no good reason! Please do not let them into the building as we want to respect guests with cat allergies.
