I highly recommend SUV or 4x4 rentals, NO low clearance vehicles i.e. Camaro or Mustangs NOTE : Flooding may and does occur in North Hilo and on the Big Island. Please use extreme caution when near, swimming in or crossing any waterway. 4x4 or jeep is recommended for exploring back road areas on the island and to get to my place. 4x4 is required to access Waipio Valley, Green Sands Beach, and Mauna Kea.
