Chatham NY Victorian Cottage
Welcome to my awesome country home. It's a cozy cottage near Chatham village with great activities nearby. I'm not a professional hotelier, so please understand if things aren't perfect. Think of it as your friend's really cool house in the country that you can have lots of fun in, except I don't know you and you're paying me. This is how I help pay the bills on the house, but I also enjoy hosting guests. After your visit, I hope you love this house and the surrounding area as much as I do. The space This little farm cottage goes back to 1877 (maybe even earlier - still doing research) when Chatham first became a railroad town. It's filled with antiques and country charm. The master bedroom has a full-size bed and sleeps two. The Treehouse attic bedroom has a trundle bed that can be arranged as one twin, two separate twins, or a king, and can sleep two. The Morning Room guest bedroom has a twin bed. The bathroom has a clawfoot tub/shower that I refinished myself. The living room has a plush couch that pulls out to sleep two, along with a large TV with a streaming box and DVD player, a record player, and a wood stove. The kitchen is fully stocked and has everything you need to cook up a feast - all the utensils you'd need, as well as basic cooking ingredients. Outside, have the kids (or adults) run around in the one-acre yard. Feel free to have fun on the patio. You are welcome to use the charcoal grill and have dinner on the patio set. Gather wood to make a fire in the pit and sit in the Adirondack chairs, roast marshmallows and tell ghost stories. Included with renting the house is use of some bikes, kayaks, board games, and lawn games. The house is also business ready, with high-speed internet, a printer in the living room, and a desk in each bedroom, . But I hope that you'll get to relax and enjoy the space no matter why you're visiting the area. One thing to note is that it's the country and the house is on a well. The water is treated but has mineral content, and the hot water has a mineral odor. Some people notice it, some don't. Guest access You'll have access to three bedrooms, the living room, kitchen, dining room, patio, and backyard. Off-limits are the attic, cellar, one of the closets in the master bedroom, and the laundry machines (guests who stay a week or longer may use the machines). Other things to note The train runs behind the property. If you're a light sleeper, you may hear it in the night. If you're a sound sleeper, you won't be bothered. Each room has a radio to help drown out the noise, and there are earplugs in the bathroom if you wish to take a pair.
