You will arrive at the property along a country lane with no-through traffic and we have a lovely long garden which makes it safe for families with young children. There are some lovely country walks for those who like to ramble and don't forget your bike maybe you could enjoy your own Tour de France! The cottage has an open-plan lounge and newly fitted kitchen with french doors opening up onto a sun-drenched terrace and built-in barbecue, ideal for spending long summer evenings under the stars, excellent for sharing a bottle of the locally produced wines or for winter evenings cosy by the roaring fire, reading a good book. For parents that would like a romantic evening out without the children, babysitting can be arranged. Our cottage provides total relaxation yet with all the jewels the region has to offer within a mere 10-20 minutes away. In the immediate area there are many activities to be enjoyed including hot air ballooning, fishing, 18 hole golf course, canoeing, walking, lazy boat trips down the river, pony trekking and wine tasting. We are situated in the Perigord Noir - the heart of the Dordogne. In an area of outstanding natural beauty where every turn leads to a picture postcard view. Discover the famous châteaux, beautiful villages and timeless scenery of a region immersed in history that stretches back to prehistoric times. The region is famous for its gastronomy and wine, inside the many excellent local restaurants you can sample the local products such as walnuts, foie gras, confit de canard, truffles, goose and of course enjoy the famous french wines. Chateau Millandes is only a five minute drive away, the château was once owned by the famous dancer Josephine Baker, whose life story is fascinating and there is also an excellent display of birds of prey, this is definitely one we recommend you visit. In the grounds of the château are lovely gardens, a restaurant, crazy golf and a swimming pool. Only 15 minutes away is the stunning historic town of Sarlat, where there are many events during the summer with plenty of restaurants and cafes to choose from. There is also an excellent market held on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Other markets in the area include Le Bugue on a Tuesday and St Cyprien on a Sunday. Meander through the streets trying and buying the local produce or alternatively laze away an hour or two at one of the many cafes watching the people go by.
