We would like to welcome you to come and stay in our lovely guesthouse at our farm in the heart of Skagafjordur. Here you can relax and enjoy your evening in our hot tub, take a walk to visit our calm and gentle horses, we also own a beautiful lake and we are "forest farmers" i.e. we plant 10.000 trees each year and we can highly recommend a stroll through our young forest to the lake. There will be sheep, chicken, cats and dogs around and next to the house there is a beautiful old church:) The space We started building the guesthouse, for our friends and family in 2017 and finished it in January 2018. We then thought it was a shame to leave it empty in between visits and thought we should see if we couldn't offer it to fun and interesting people like yourself and perhaps make more friends. People that were willing to get off the beaten track and get to know the real Iceland and real Icelanders:) The house has a very comfortable queen size bed, small kitchen facilities that should suffice to cook most meals, with a fridge and a private bathroom with a shower after a dip in the hot tub. There is a coffee maker to make coffee and tea as you like and super comfortable chairs to relax in, enjoy your coffee and connect to our WiFi, to either plan the next day, upload your pictures, relax over Netflix or update you social media . If there is anything missing to make your visit more pleasant, some oil, spices, etc. then we are a shout away with a (usually) well stocked pantry:) There is a lovely old church next to our house which is always open and you are welcome to visit, take pictures or just enjoy a quiet moment. We also have a small chicken hut next to our house where we keep (we believe) the happiest chicken anywhere, and probably the oldest, since some of them are over 10 years old and we are pretty sure have not laid any eggs for several years, but thanks to a mix of younger generation chicken and if you are in luck there will be fresh eggs for breakfast if you lift the hatch on the outside of the hut. There will be animals all around, depending of course of time of year you will hopefully visit. But cats, dogs, chicken, horses and sheep. None will bother you unless you want them to of course:) If you need any information or anything at all you just pop over. As said before, there is a hot tub you are most welcome to use, next to the house, a lovely place to relax and enjoy a cold beer or a glass of wine while being slowly cooked in the geothermal water. We think ending the day in there and then straight to bed, will guarantee a great night's sleep. Skagafjordur has many attractions such as Glaumbaer museum, Grettislaug, Holar, Hofsos and The tannery visitor center. We also have in the area twice as many horses as we do people, so horseback riding is something guests should definitely look into trying. There is also white river rafting to check out or just enjoying the bird- and wildlife all around. Skagafjordur also has many great swimming pools and there are some nice restaurants and a bakery in Saudarkrokur town (16 km away from our farm).
