Dick's Cabin at the Eagles Roost Trout Farm
Our unique cabin on Hennessy Creek sits pond-side at the Eagles Roost Trout Farm. Relax to trickles of our clear waters, hike on 100’s of pristine acres & trails, fly fish for Rainbow Trout, enjoy campfires or take a hot sauna, then let dreams become lasting memories, while you sleep like a baby. Rustic & perfect for kids or couples, bikers & hikers, a haven for birdwatchers, nature lovers, & stress busters. Our cabin is a “destination” unto itself regardless of plans beyond your stay. The space This is a three room cabin with a Sauna and an enclosed glass patio. There is one queen sized bed, a sleeping loft with mattresses and two futon couches which convert to double beds. There is a very basic kitchen on the porch and a gas grill outside. Our outhouse and outdoor shower are right out the back door. With a sink and with extra cleaning station right there, you won't even bother to walk up to the house but you are welcome to use the bathroom on the lower level if you prefer. Just let us know when you need it. Guest access The cabin itself, the sauna, the outdoor shower, patio and fire pit are all provided for the exclusive use of our guest. The ponds and our 20 acres are shared at times, but are generally available to our guest 24/7. Our Home, across the pond, affords guests access to a full bathroom and home access for any emergency needs. The adjacent (mostly west) 460 acres of public lands are pristine and while shared with the public are not heavily used, and give you the feel of having your own private park in the woods. Additional fees are required for pets kept in the cabin, laundry, extra meals, fishing, fly fishing lessons, and other personalized guidance. Other things to note What’s New at Dick’s Cabin? In 2020 we added a deep sink to the shower area with cold water in the tap plus hot water available by unhooking the shower cord. In 2020 also added running water to the sink and wash area outside on the porch. In 2019 the Outdoor Hot Shower yes we have hot water at the cabin! In 2018 our outhouse was replaced with a brand new Porta Potty. There is a sanitary chemical treatment and weekly waste removal (pump out) service as well which all but eliminates the dreaded outhouses experience. For TC folks, this is the cabin up north experience without the long drive. We have power hookups and guests may utilize the camping option along with the cabin. Prior coordination in this regard is necessary. A Weber grill and camp fire pit are available for your use. Pets Despite the many challenges of accommodating pets we continue to welcome them. However, while nice dogs and other pets are completely welcome. Aggressive or threatening animals of any kind are strictly forbidden. Any pet which can be expected to pee our defecate in the cabin is strictly prohibited. An additional $35 cleaning fee will be collected upon arrival for pets brought inside the cabin. $45 for two and $55 for 3 or more. This is for the protection of those subsequent guests who may have allergies even to hypogenic animals. Territorial “guard” dogs must be kept under control and damage to the cabin will be charged (screen doors for example can be destroyed by such dogs in minutes). Dogs and other animals may run free on the property (they love it) but must not be allowed run out into the road if they do run free of a leash or chain. Caveats There is no running water in the cabin itself although there is running water (cold and hot) at the outdoor shower and sink when outdoor temps are consistently above 32 Degs F. We cannot control nor be responsible for the weather, your allergies, sensitivities to the great outdoors such as insects, pollen or the sensitivities of your pets to these as well. You are likely to hear daytime gunfire because of our rural location and proximity to a large game farm. Please plan accordingly as these things are completely out of our control. We are a trout farm and there may be fish deliveries, fish purchases and fishing at the pond by other parties, but only during daytime hours ~ 11-5pm.
