It is surely one of the most spectacular chateau rentals in France, offering a 22-acre private lake, lovely island, wonderful lakeside terrace, swimming pool, tennis court, 9-hole golf, palatial lawns, gorgeous gardens and forests full of wildlife. With an elevator servicing all four floors, access to the reception rooms, dining rooms, chapel and the gorgeous en suite bedrooms available for Guests is easy. Internet & wi-fi are included, and housekeeping services can be arranged. Self-cater or we will prearrange delicious catering including breakfast, lunch, and dinner served in the dining rooms, gardens or on the lakeside terrace as you prefer. There are lovely walks amongst the gardens, around the lake’s 2.5 kilometer shoreline, and through the woods. The swimming pool and adjacent pool house offer delightful relaxation in or out of the sun. Excellent carp fishing and rowboats can be enjoyed on our private lake. Play golf, tennis, ping pong, croquet, boules, etc. on site. Wine tasting, golf, horseback riding, bicycling, river boat tours, hot air ballooning, museums, churches, restaurants, gourmet cooking classes and shopping are all nearby. The Chateau is well situated just 20 minutes from Angers with its great shops and restaurants. Angers is 85 minutes from Paris via TGV, and the international airport in Nantes is about an hour away. There are many other delightful villages to visit nearby. Please note that the Château is not a B&B (chambre d’hote) and we do not rent individual bedrooms. Instead, the Château is a private vacation (holiday) rental that is only rented on an exclusive basis to one tenant at a time. This temporary ban will remain in place until further notice from Airbnb. The Interior The Chateau has been extensively renovated and sumptuously decorated with beautiful antiques and rich fabrics. Although majestic with its dramatic, double carved-stone stairway in the entrance hall, and elaborate 16.5 foot ceilings throughout the main floor, the Chateau is warm and welcoming. The Drawing Room is inviting with its oak paneling, huge log fireplace, and private terrace. The magnificent Grand Salon, with its parquet flooring, original oak linen paneling, tall windows, and massive mirrored fireplace mantle, offers a luxurious yet relaxed venue for gatherings both large and small. The Chapel, with its spectacular stone rib-vault ceiling, glorious stained-glass window, and gilded oak paneling is a consecrated haven for solitude and prayer. The splendid Silver Reception Room was specially designed for elegant dining and includes elevator access for guests and hi-speed dumbwaiters connecting the Silver Reception Room’s service kitchen to the main kitchen two floors below. Aside from the Silver Reception Room, there are numerous other places to dine in the Chateau, ranging from elegant to cozy. The Chatelain’s private dining room is fabulous and the Courtyard and Lakeside Terrace both offer special outdoor dining experiences. There is even a more casual yet very pretty dining room, the Salle du Jardin, which is ideal for breakfast or for when you’re in the mood for something informal. There are 14 en suite, beautifully furnished bedrooms in the Chateau to choose from to accommodate up to 15 Guests at the base rental rate, with a supplemental charge for additional guests. Each is uniquely decorated in different color schemes ranging from azure to rose, and filled with antiques, crystal chandeliers and beds you never want to get out of! There is even a two-story master suite, with its own foyer, drawing room, and antique oak staircase leading up to a huge circular en suite bedroom that has an original hand-painted domed ceiling. There are also two apartments with 5 more bedrooms in a separate building that will accommodate up to 10 more people and are a 3-minute walk through the gardens from the Chateau. They are not decorated to the same standard as the Chateau, but they offer a very affordable way to have more people sleep on the estate at only €120 per night per apartment (€120 per night per apartment in 2020). The 2-bdrm will sleep 4 people; the 3-bdrm will sleep 6 people. There are also charming bed & breakfasts and hotels for many more Guests nearby. GUEST REVIEWS The following reviews (which are posted on the internet & other booking sites we also utilise) are typical of how our Guests enjoyed their stay with us: Please note that pursuant to its Global Ban on All Parties and Events, Airbnb has required us to temporarily "Remove all the guest reviews (parties/event friendly contents present in most of the reviews)" Other things to note The Chateau is a private home, not a hotel or a bed and breakfast, and it is rented on an exclusive basis (i.e., only one Guest group at a time). We have a 3-night minimum and the rent amount shown on Airbnb only includes up to 15 guests sleeping in the Chateau divided over 14 bedrooms and does not include the 10% TVA tax. If you wish to have more than 15 people sleeping in the Chateau there is an extra guest surcharge of €75 + 10% TVA tax per extra guest per night for each guest in excess of 15. (Pursuant to Airbnb's Global Ban on Parties and Events, as of 20 August 2020 the Chateau may not be advertised or booked on Airbnb for more than 16 guests until further notice from Airbnb.) Every bedroom has its own ensuite bathroom, and all of the bedrooms are easily accessible because we have an elevator serving all 4 floors. We also have two separate apartments which are a 3-minute walk through the gardens from the Chateau. The 2-bdrm will accommodate up to 4 guests, and the 3-bdrm will accommodate up to 6 guests. Each apartment has kitchen facilities and 1 bathroom. The apartments are nice, but are not decorated to the same luxurious standard as the Chateau. At an additional cost of only €120 + 10% TVA tax per night per apartment they are intended to offer our guests an affordable option for families with noisy children to use to avoid disturbing their other guests, or to increase the maximum number of people who can sleep on the estate. The apartments are only available to guests who have rented the Chateau, so even if you do not use them the only people who will be on the estate during your stay will be your guests, our staff, and any outside vendors who may be needed to provide services you request. All supplemental costs, including the extra guest surcharge, apartment rentals and catering are not included in the rental amount shown by Airbnb and are payable directly to us and not via Airbnb. A 50% deposit of any supplemental costs must be paid to us within 1 week after your booking is made on Airbnb and the balance is due 60 days before arrival, with the exception of catering costs which are payable in full 30-60 days before arrival. If you wish to book please do not use Airbnb's instant booking because it will miscalculate the price by at least overlooking the 10% tva tax. All instant bookings will need to be cancelled by you, your monies refunded, and a new booking manually entered with the correct pricing and other details. So, instead of using instant booking please contact us so we can manually set up your booking correctly from the outset.
