Located in the Cantabrian village of Cicero, The Majuelo is a plot of land with a blazoned house from the beginning of the XVIII. Century. From its galleries and balconies there is an amazing view of the mouth of the Ason river (natural reserve of the Santoña, Victoria and Joyel marshes) to the north and the mountains surrounding the Bien Aparecida shrine to the east.   The access to The Majuelo is through a courtyard. At the other side of the courtyard there is a gate to come into the house. Both the house and the entrance have been declared monuments. The interior of the house has been reformed in 2012, but the outside has been respected as it originally was. In the ground floor there is a social club room (txoko), the first floor has enough space for 9 people and the attic has two flats for 5 and 3 people each. The village of Cicero belongs to the municipality of Barcena de Cicero and is located 6 km (4 miles) away from the coastal village of Santoña, a famous fishermen´s town, home of illustrious navigators and strong fish industry of tuna and anchovies; 8 km (6 miles) from Laredo, a well known touristic city of Cantabria, due to its long beach, the old town, the summer-night life, the performance of Charles V`s  landing and the flower festival (the last Friday of August). A little bit further away is the village of Noja (15km/12 miles), famous because of its three white-sand beaches and its summer-life. In the opposite direction, 10 km away (8 miles) is Ampuero, known for its festivals in September and its bull-runnings. All these villages are surrounding the natural reserve of the Santoña, Victoria and Joyel marshes. Cicero has been traditionally famous for its shellfish, specially clams and razor-shells.
