I am particularly sensitive to sound; upon arrival, I found none but the wind in the trees. The first night I fell into a comfy bed and slept through 9 hours without interruption. (I haven't done that since the fifth grade). The house itself is impeccably clean. The kitchen is outfitted with anything and everything you could need for cooking and dining. The bath towels are thick and luxurious; and, lovely bath soaps were put out. This is a great escape for nature lovers. The view of trees and land below makes your heart swell. Every day there were groups of deer in the backyard. And on one afternoon a large rafter of turkeys sauntered through. There is easy access to gorgeous hiking: Willowemac Forest, Crystal Lake where the chickadees sung to me all the way around the lake, and the trails around Mud Pond and Trout Pond where I saw not another soul, all of which I could experience in a long weekend. "There are experiences of landscape that will always resist articulation, and of which words offer only a distant echo." Robert MacFarlane. Alfred's beautiful home & surroundings offered me such an experience for which I am grateful. Alfred's earnestness and care were heartfelt. He was always readily available both before and during my stay. There is some magic attached to this place. Maybe it's the residue of joy from the people who have had the privilege to visit. Or maybe it's the generosity of its owner who is so open and willing to share. Thank you so much, Alfred. E. from New Jersey. Guest access 80 acres of private land with hiking/mountain biking trails on top of a beautiful natural hill. Other things to note The silence, fresh air and pristine well water from deep down in the mountain make this place a heathy and rejuvenating retreat.
