Going to campus or have a conference downtown? Interviewing/working at the UW Hospital? Our historic and art-filled home is close by and in an active part of a pretty neighborhood. We'll help orient you and answer questions about Madison (we love it for the art/music, food, livability, friendly people, and progressive vibe). You'll find a quiet, clean, comfortable place here, and we invite you to use the well-equipped kitchen, screen porch, and back garden patio in the warmer months. The space We are happy to be in our eleventh year of hosting Airbnb guests and we'd love to host you. Built in 1936, our house is in on a corner in College Park, at the foot of historic University Heights. Built in 1936, our house is close to all and is pretty, cozy, bright, and clean. Your single room is perfect for one person (or a close couple!). You can easily walk to the hospital or take the nearby bus downtown. We invite you to explore Madison or take a nap, or both, before your evening activity. The bathroom is shared but we work around you AND have a bathroom downstairs that we'll primarily use while you're here. The soaps and shampoos are organic. You are welcome to use the downstairs living spaces, also. We also have a bike and helmet you can use while you're here. You can become part of our family or keep to yourself, whatever you are most comfortable with. You'll find the essentials: a great wi-fi connection, hair dryer, iron/ironing board, and breakfast. Madison is an inclusive and environmentally sensitive city. We welcome everyone and we like to recycle, compost, and use dye- and synthetic-free cleaning products. If you are looking for an entire house (max 7 guests), check out our other listing (Artist's House), or a place in the country recently restored, see the Brisbane House. Guest access Enjoy the entire house. The screened-in porch and patio are great for warm summer evening meals. The kitchen has everything within reach. Your organic breakfast--we're happy to try to accommodate a special request, please let us know in advance--will include fresh fruit, granola, and French-press coffee or tea. You're welcome to use a bike and the washer and dryer. During your stay Keep us apprised of your arrival and departure times, please. We'd like to know of any special requests to make your stay just right for you. We may or may not be here to greet you personally, but will arrange to leave you a key and connect when we get back. (Note that you should arrive by 10 PM. We're not the best option for late night arrivals or crashing after a big night on the town--read small house, creaky wood floors and doors.) We're a busy family who love art, music, travel, and locally sourced food. We will help you with your itinerary or restaurant recommendations. We can discuss dinner options with us if you are staying for several nights or you may even want to cook while you're here (we're very close to Whole Foods, Regent Street Market and other grocery stores). We love guests who take off their shoes and are mindful of closing doors quietly at night. It's a small house and we appreciate your consideration! Other things to note -What this place isn't: a place to just crash for the night after a late night out. We don't feel that's in the spirit of Airbnb and the house is too small for late night arrivals. -Please think twice before booking if your check out is prior to 7 AM (see above, thanks!) -Let us know your check in (prior to 10 PM)/check out (noon or flexible) times in advance--and tell us if you've been delayed. Parking – Tell us your needs; your best bet is free street parking on the weekends and evenings. Free two hour (at a time) street parking on weekdays. No parking 8 AM - noon on Tuesdays across from our house on Kendall. All-day free parking on weekdays is a 1/2 mile west on Bluff Street (Kendall turns into Bluff). All-day free parking on Farley Ave. on weekends. We can help you figure it out! Bus or Airport Arrivals - We're a short cab or Uber ride (4 minutes) from Gordon Commons, the stop for Megabus, Badger Bus and Van Galder. We're a 20 minute drive from the Dane County airport. The State of Wisconsin and City of Madison require Airbnb hosts to be in compliance and licensed with state and local laws. LICHMD-2013-00248
