The space Villa di Piazza - the heritage home features spacious living spaces in a quiet little town that allows you to experience 19th century living, with the comfort of today. Porta Antica apartment is situated on the first floor of our old stone house, this apartment offers views both on the pituresque streets of Visnjan old town as well as the main square with church, whilst from the south side you can enjoy the views on the surroundings, garden and the sea in the far back - the bay of Porec. The furniture in this apartment has been collected over the years, so that all the pieces can share with you their stories. The master bedroom is featuring an old wooden bed that has been made in the region of today´s eastern Croatia (back then Habsburg monarchy), before the world war 1. Unfortunately, the carpenter never got to enjoy it since he lost his life in the battle with the Russians. His personal belongings have been delivered to his wife in a wooden suitcase, which as well you can get to see. The closet was originally ordered for the military school in Pecs, Hungary, as well during the first world war, but the history took the turn and it has ended up in one of the rich jewish houses in the city of Osijek in eastern Croatia, the famous Koscher butcher family. The closet has remained in the house once the family has left the region and has changed many owners along with it in the past century, until it finally found his rest at Villa di Piazza. The chest of drawers with the mirror (German: Waschenkommode) has been made as well at very the beginning of the 20th century in Budapest. Its history on how it has reached Croatia is not known to us, but luckily we have found this jewel on one of the markets with antiques 20 years ago. This finishes our tour around the master bedroom, the remaining history lesson can gladly be explained to you on-site by our host Dragan. Other things to note Villa di Piazza is situated right in front of the antique city gate of the old town, only a few meters away from the historic square featuring an old church with belfry and beautiful viewing point looking down on Porec bay - sunsets you will not forget! A pittoresque street with cobblestone brings you to the top! Public parking is available free of charge at the old square (in front of the church), only a few meters away from the house. Pass through the old town stone gate as you drive up and the house will be just in front on your left… the entrance is from the garden side in the back ;-)
