Our quiet, private studio is located in the historic Old Newark neighborhood, next to the Univ of Delaware, a few minutes' walk to the center of downtown. Newark is a quaint college town with restaurants, history museum, library, small stores etc. The studio is in a quiet, friendly, safe, historic and walk-able neighborhood. If you are looking for privacy and serenity in this charming town, this is the place! Guests describe our studio as immaculately clean, private and calming. Stay with us. The space The studio is a 500 sq feet newly updated private space of our home. It is on the main floor and is attached to the back of the house. The studio features 4 large windows providing natural light and overlooking our secluded wooded backyard. The studio features a secure private entrance. While you are staying with us, you will have this private studio completely to yourself. The open studio space consists of a kitchenette, sleeping area, dining area, a living room room area and a small office area. Attached to the studio is a newly renovated private bath with a full bathtub. In the kitchenette you will find a microwave, counter height fridge with a freezer, a toaster and a Keurig coffee machine along with an assortment of coffee, hot chocolate and tea. There is no dishwasher, also there is no range and no oven. For safety reasons, please do not use hot plates or any other cooking appliances other than the microwave and the toaster that is provided. For meals we highly recommend Newark's numerous restaurants that are just a call or a leisurely walk away from our home. A shortlist of local restaurants is available on the desk in the studio. The bedroom area has a Queen size bed (sleeps 2) with a new 11 inch comfortable foam mattress, mattress topper and fresh, clean bright white linens. There are extra pillows and blankets available in the storage compartment of the pull out sofa. The living room area features a couch/pull out sofa bed, coffee table and a comfortable chair. When extended, the sofa bed measures 70 inches by 40 inches and can comfortably sleep 1 person. There is a Samsung smart TV in the living room area with a number of freely accessible online channels through Samsung's TV Plus application. You are also free to log on and use your own Hulu, NETFLIX etc. accounts. (If you forget to log out when you leave, just let us know, we will be happy to log you out right away). The office area features an extendible desk, a lamp, a comfortable chair and some basic office supplies. While working at the desk you will have a relaxing view of our green side yard. The private, full bathroom has a full tub, sink, dual flush toilet, fresh towels, hair dryer, toiletries and all the bathroom essentials. The bathroom has a large closet with shelves, plenty of storage room and lots of hangers. As a bonus, you will find a large fan, a humidifier, a yoga mat and couple of weights, drying rack, iron and an ironing board. The studio is centrally air conditioned/heated. The temperature is controlled from the main part of the home. We keep the studio comfortably cool in the summer and heated in the winter. If you need adjustments, just reach out to us during your stay, we are happy to accommodate within a reasonable range. You have full access to our screened in porch - feel free to use the table and chairs on the porch and enjoy the fresh air and the private back yard of our home. In the kitchenette you will find a starter pack of coffee/tea, paper towels and and some cleaning supplies. The bathroom includes a starter set of shampoo, body wash and toilet paper. For the safety of our guests and the security of our property, a camera is monitoring the outside of the studio entrance and a camera is monitoring the driveway. The cameras are motion activated and are on 24/7. All hotels and businesses offering accommodation have similar cameras installed. No cameras are installed inside the studio. Guest access There is 1 parking space available on our driveway. Please park in the driveway during your visit. Please do not park on the street because you will get a parking fine. When you arrive, walk to our front door, then take the walking path on the right, towards the side of the house. You will first enter the screened in porch (3 steps) and then use your private entry to step into our studio. Other things to note Please note, we also live in the house. Our living room is right next to the studio. The door between the two spaces is locked (from both sides) and sound proofed but normal sounds will be heard. The main part of the house is completely off limits to our studio guests. This studio is strictly non-smoking, no vaping and absolutely no illegal drugs or cannabis products. Smoking is not allowed anywhere in or on the property. Intoxicated guests will be removed. Please no pets on the property. When making an inquiry and/or booking our studio, always book the exact number of individuals that will be staying.
