Walk right into this “pleasant” newly renovated 1912 cottage with a living room warmed by a cozy electric fireplace. A downstairs bedroom, spacious kitchen with European butcher block countertops, plus a full bathroom with a EUR toilet & showerhead are all on the main level. Upstairs, you will find 2 additional bedrooms! This cottage is full of character, inspired by Chip & Joanna Gaines’ fixer-upper show. Outside is a front porch perfect for sipping hot cider on cool autumn evenings... The space Located just 15 minutes walking distance from the Bremerton Ferry dock this little vintage/rustic/modern farmhouse is where the heart is! Walk right into this “pleasant” newly renovated 1912 cottage with a large living room warmed by a cozy electric fireplace. A downstairs Master bedroom, spacious kitchen with European butcher block countertops, plus a full bathroom with a European toilet and showerhead are all on the main level. Upstairs, you will find two additional bedrooms! This little cottage is full of character, inspired by Chip and Joanna Gaines’ fixer-upper show. All of its imperfections have been DIY by me (feel free to giggle at my novice wallpapering/painting techniques!) Outside is a front porch perfect for sipping hot cider on cool autumn evenings or sip on ice tea on a hot summer day. The detached garage is for your car and there is a fenced backyard. In the future, I will be putting in stock tanks for a whole produce garden so my guests may be able to pick their own organic produce from, have a fresh salad for dinner (I have my own garden at my primary home). Wouldn’t that truly feel like a farm in the suburbs? After a year and a half of blood, sweat, and tears doing a ton of remodeling and under so much stress, this newly renovated 1912 cottage is finally open to the public! In December 2019, I purchased this little fixer-upper. I was given the estimate of completion date to be done within 3 months -- until the pandemic hit as well as several not-so-great contractors were on board and had to be let go, delaying the opening date. The stress. If only I had the time to create videos to post online about my journey, I would have done so. This rustic cottage is nothing but perfect. In 2020, I took on not only working overtime at the hospital, volunteering to help more, I was also juggling completing my second Bachelor’s degree (I completed a degree in Neurodiagnostics and Sleep Sciences through UNCC) while at the same time, any moment I had, I was also at the “cottage” working on the home. I can proudly say that I put up all the wallpaper myself (don’t look too closely, you’ll see all the imperfections!) and painted all the interior walls myself (with the help of a friend, here and there). This cottage is nothing but perfect, as you will see. If only you saw and experienced seeing the before and after pictures — there was a lot of demolition going on, walls being taken down, even the bathroom was knocked down. In time I’ll create my own website to showcase the before and after pictures. Every imperfection is because I DIY-ed myself, and well, it is a 100 plus-year-old home that needs much ongoing work. Just when I think I’m done, there something else I want to do to that home. I designed the cottage myself, using most of Chip and Joanna Gaines Magnolia's decor and not to mention daily obsession of Pinterest staring. Are you familiar with their fixer-upper shows? I don’t have tv and didn’t even know about them until I discovered them through a friend who had their cookbooks. I love their style and personality; I wanted this cottage to sort of have the same farmhouse black and white theme. I envisioned designing this cute little cozy cottage myself, asking friends their own thoughts as well. It's rustic, modern, vintage all in one. Downstairs it's a more vintage/rustic farmhouse, while upstairs, it's more of a modern farmhouse feel. So come visit my cottage! The decor: Most of the decor was bought from Magnolia.com, Wayfair.com, Target, Home Goods, Lowe’s, and Home Depot, as well as some were thrifted. All appliances are brand new Samsung! Feel free to ask; I’ll let you know where I bought my items. Because I am in sleep medicine and love my sleep, I am spoiling you with organic 100% cotton sheets from Target. I am all about breathable sheets, avoiding any kind of synthetic bed sheets against my skin when I sleep. The outside of the cottage is still under renovation, needing to do more painting and landscaping — in time. Your funds will be providing me to go back to school, to help society teach better health as well as helping to renovate this cottage. So thank you in advance! I hope you like the way I designed my home. I am no expert, as you can see. My main gig is teaching sleep medicine (going back to school AGAIN, this time for a Master’s in Public Health/Dietician in hopes of completing my book on sleep/nutrition). If anything, I may be an expert and know-how to get good sleep — the answer is not juggling so much, as I have this past few years! Please feel free to give me constructive feedback as I am always looking to becoming a better host. After all, I help patients get the best sleep at the sleep lab, so running an Airbnb is sort of in the same job description. I just won’t watch you sleep! Haha. I do also run another Airbnb in my own primary home. Check out my other Airbnb sites if you are in the area of University Place. The Rooms... The Sheep Room: located downstairs. While I work my night shifts, I use this room as my home base to sleep during the day, usually on Thursday and/or Friday days. Please excuse my things being there. The Cow Room: located upstairs. Enjoy my favorite room. I absolutely enjoy the bold wallpaper. It’s girly but at the same time, the cow makes the room dramatic. Feel free to use the rower. The Horse Room: located upstairs. I have had so many visitors stating they love this cute little room. The black bench converts to an exercise bench. Feel free to use it. Guest access There is room for parking on the street and a tiny garage.
