The Florence at Walden Woods is a 350+ square foot cozy efficiency unit with a bed, bath, living room with tv, and kitchenette. Guests will love sitting in rocking chairs on the front porch with breathtaking mountain views. Walden Woods adjoins the North Cumberland WMA, over 140,000 acres with endless miles of ATV trails. Our property also has two ponds great for fishing! The space Welcome to The Florence at Walden Woods! Whether you are staying in our main cabin, The Oscar, or The Florence, we know you are going to enjoy the beautiful mountains of East Tennessee. Our property is located on Hwy 25W near La Follette in Campbell County, Tennessee, and is accessed via Elzo Bob Lane. This property was originally the farm of our grandparents, Oscar and Florence Walden. In many ways, this property still honors them and other members of the Walden family with special touches that we hope you notice. Check-In We offer self-check-in. We will provide you with a keypad code to unlock the door. You may check-in at any time after 3 pm. If you need an earlier time, please contact us to see if we can accommodate you. Safety Information and Rules Guest Consideration: Please remember that our cabin is composed of three units, and other guests may be staying at the same time as you. Please keep noise to a minimum, especially during nighttime hours. Parties are not permitted. Our cabin has been carefully furnished, so please be respectful of the furniture and personal property on the premises. Broken or misplaced items may be taken from your deposit. Fire safety: Fire extinguishers are located in the kitchen of each cabin unit. All smoke detectors are in working order. However, the cabin is not close to a fire station. If you use a bbq grill or a fire pit, please monitor their use at all times and fully extinguish all flames. Heating/Cooling: The heating and cooling unit is adjustable and located under the window. Parking: You may park in the gravel lot in front of and beside the cabin. It’s a steep drop off the mountain, so please use your parking brake just in case! For ATV trailers, please detach the trailer and park it in the flat spot near the pond. ATVs may be parked beside the cabin or by the pond. Wifi: Available Phone: Cell service is spotty at the cabin. Some guests have luck placing their phones on the window sill. A landline is provided for your use. Television: All televisions are equipped with a DVD player and DirecTV. Trash: You’re almost guaranteed to see wildlife during your stay such as rabbits, squirrels, turkey, and deer. However, the mountains are also full of cougars, coyotes, elk, and bears. All of these animals have been seen on our trail camera a few hundred yards from the cabin. In order to protect your safety, do not under any circumstances leave trash outside. For the same reasons, do not leave any food, coolers, etc., unsupervised outside. If you are staying for an extended period of time, we will make arrangements to collect trash from the cabin regularly during your stay. Check Out Please wash, dry, and put up all dishes. Please place all dirty bath/kitchen towels and sheets from the bed in the floor. Please empty your personal items from the fridge, closets, and drawers (don’t forget your phone charger). Please turn the heating/cooling unit off. You are welcome to use any items in the cabin, but please return them to their place when you leave. Cabin Amenities The two efficiency-style units are located in the walkout basement below Brian’s View. Each unit includes a queen bed and full bathroom stocked with towels, soap, shampoo, and a hair dryer. The kitchenette includes a refrigerator, microwave, sink, basic dishes, and a small dining table. Guests can relax on the sofa and chair while watching tv, which includes a DVD player and DirecTV. Wifi access and a landline are available. Property Amenities While driving through Elzo Bob Lane, you are sure to notice our scenic fishing ponds. The ponds are stocked with bluegill and small-mouth bass. You are welcome to fish at our ponds. However, we do ask that you release the fish that you catch as our fish population is still growing. The bottom pond is easily accessible by car. An ATV is necessary to reach the upper pond. The bottom pond also has several firepits. You are welcome to bring your own firewood for a small bonfire. However, we ask that you keep the fire in control and completely extinguish the fire when finished. Feedback We hope you enjoy your stay, and we would love to hear about your experience! If you reserved using AirBNB, be sure to leave feedback. If you are taking photos of your trip, we would love to see them! You can post them to our Facebook page or use the social media hashtag #waldenwoodstn Each cabin unit has a guest book. Please share a memory with future cabin guests! ATV Use Out of respect to all guests, we request that you only use ATVs to access TWRA trails and not use the property for recreation. If you are bringing an ATV trailer, please park the trailer in the flat space beside the ponds. The speed limit for ATVs within the property is 10 mph. Our property adjoins the North Cumberland Wildlife Management Area, which encompasses the Royal Blue WMA and Sundquist WMA. At 140,000 acres, this is the second largest area of public property in Tennessee. While exploring the WMA on your ATV, you will see wildlife including majestic elk, deer, rare birds, and even bears! The speed limit within the WMA is 25 mph Tennessee requires permits to operate ATVs on the North Cumberland WMA for those over age 12. Violators may pay a fine of $300.
