Large oak and black walnut trees surround the gardens and a 1/2 acre restored prairie attract birds, butterflies, deer, and other wildlife. 30 min. drive to Madison; close to many charming small towns, state & county parks, trails, lakes, and attractions. During your stay Whenever possible, I like to greet my guests upon arrival, show you around and let you get settled. However, self check-in is easy! This is a situation in which you are sharing my (and my 3 cats) living space. I'm gregarious, and I'm more than happy to interact as much as you'd like, but I will also stay out of your way. You can enjoy complete privacy in your room, on the deck, or strolling around the 3-acre property and adjacent park land. Other things to note *Three friendly cats live in the house.* There are many great side trips (for car and bicycle) within a 30-mile radius: New Glarus Brewery, Blue Mound State Park, Taliesin, Wisconsin Brewing Company, Cave of the Mounds, House on the Rock, American Players Theater, and of course, fabulous Madison! Kayak or canoe many local rivers and lakes. Wisconsin Dells, Baraboo, and Devil's Lake State Park are an hour away. Great area for cycling--in early September, the bike route for Iron Man Triathalon goes right by the road to my house! The town of Mount Horeb is close—just 4.5 miles, and has many good restaurants and shops, including a brewpub, farm-to-table eateries, and Duluth Trading Company’s flagship store.
