Hi, my name is Robert. I am a registered respiratory therapist and a medical conference producer. I am 68 and originally from Brooklyn NY. (I now live in Rhinebeck, NY). Being of 100% Italian descent, I simply love everything Italian - the food, Italian music, the history, Italian art, the beautiful Italian language, Italian culture, the Italian people and the Italian way of life. In 2010, I made my dream come true when I purchased a modest, comfortable home, in the middle of the country! I didn’t want a home in a big city; instead, I wanted a home in a village that was off the beaten tourist trap paths close enough to easily drive or train to anywhere in Italy I wanted to visit. I found such a place in the small medieval village of San Venanzo in the province of Umbria right next to, and on the border with, the province of Tuscany. The house has every comfort a typical nice home in America or other European nation would have. The home is one block from the center of the village, walk-able to everything the village has to offer, meat market, fruit & vegetable stores, bakery, cafes, beauty parlor, community center (with lots of feasts and cultural activities), bank with ATM, in-ground community pool, small soccer stadium and lots more. Incredible views overlook the Italian countryside of olive groves, sunflowers, vineyards and beauty simply everywhere you look. I now rent the house out to others who may be interested in visiting this beautiful country while staying in my house comfortably and economically. San Venanzo is only 2 hours north of Rome and only 1.5 hours south of Florence by car. It is only 30 minutes from such famous cities as Orvieto, Perugia, Assisi, Spoletto, and Montefalco, and only an hour from Cortona (location of the movie “Under The Tuscan Sun”). Places such as Sienna, Montepulciano and Montechino are only 75 minutes away by car and only 15 minutes from the (hand-painted ceramics) town of Deruta. San Venanzo is the perfect place to stay, not only for the charm of San Venanzo itself, but for its central proximity to literally hundreds of other cities across Italy. San Venanzo is only a 30 minute drive from Orvieto (famous for its white wines) and Orvieto is a major train-stop in Italy? From Orvieto it is just 1 hour by train to Rome and only 1 hour and 30 minutes to Florence? Of course, you may want to do very little, relaxing and soaking up the sunshine in San Venanzo (the pool is fantastic). Take a book to the cafe or to the park immediately behind the house. I invite you to take a look at my home, check out the fees involved in renting it for a week or two, or even longer and then, if interested, contacting me to make the arrangements. I also have a specific website about the house and the region of Umbria that you can check out at if you wish. The house will be impeccably cleaned the day before your arrival with all linens (beds already made and ready for your use) and towels. The house has 2 large bedrooms, each air conditioned, each with their own tiled bathroom and each very nicely furnished and with lots of closet space. • Each bedroom has brand new king beds and brand new mattresses (what the Italians call "matrimonial" mattresses) which are slightly larger than our queen size. • Large, completely remodeled kitchen with new cabinetry, appliances and granite counters. Kitchen table comfortably seats 4 and can be expanded to comfortably seat 6 people and even 8 people. • Additional 3/4 bathroom off of the kitchen (this bathroom has a nice shower) • Counter-top working fireplace in kitchen (plenty of free firewood in the garage) • Brand new washer in laundry room off kitchen (dry clothes outside) • Pantry/storage area off kitchen • All new pots, pans, dishes, flatware, glasses, etc. • Peaceful, outdoor patio with tables, chairs, umbrella and barbecue/fireplace • Entire house backed by little-used, beautifully maintained community park • Private garage with two ten-speed bicycles plus additional off-street parking • Excellent water pressure (softened) and plenty of on-demand hot water • Comfortable living room with couch, and plump, leather chair. Large, flat-screen HD cable TV with Netflix and Amazon Prime. Living room comfortably seats 4-5 people for watching television or movies. An additional plump leather chair is in the kitchen and can be brought up to the living room if you wish • Strong, wireless Internet throughout the house • Mini-park just 30 feet from front door (always quiet) • Central location, walk-able (2 blocks or less) to all merchants of the village. Community center with feasts and other cultural activities only 2 blocks from the house. • All towels, linens, pillows, blankets, toiletries and blow dryer provided • Both bedrooms air-conditioned. Kitchen air-conditioned as well, plus ceiling fans in ALL rooms • Community pool and soccer stadium 1 mile from house (a day or more at the pool is not to be missed). Pool is a very delightful walk • Excellent restaurant 1.5 blocks from the house - 3 cafes within 2 blocks of the house • Bank with ATM and Catholic Church 1 block away • Two new bicycles for your use in the garage Ciao!
