Magical, breathtaking, a great place to relax. Kick back and listen to fish jump and birds sing in serene tranquility. The house is large & spacious w/ 300' of lakefront, cathedral ceilings, screened porch & giant deck on a private, secluded lake. No motorboats or jet skis. Big living room, dining room, family room and bedrooms, two baths, laundry, eat-in kitchen w/ high-end appliances. The house is currently off-market. Message us via CONTACT HOST and we will let you know when it's available. The space If you're looking for a quiet place surrounded by nature to spend time with family and friends without being disturbed by neighbors the setting is ideal. Lounge in the hammock ... go for a paddle in the canoe ... or a dip in the lake. Take a hike, read a book or play a board game. It's all here ... without having to get in the car. The setting is a quiet, private community on a dead-end dirt road, so there's no traffic to speak of. It's just you and nature. The neighboring houses are hidden behind trees. The view from the deck across the lake is all forest. The loudest thing you're likely to hear is the mail truck or a beaver's tail thump. It's very dark at night and great for star-gazing. It's a quiet neighborhood where you'll wake up to birds singing. AIRBNB has several places listed of varying size, in different settings, in the area. They range from cozy to spacious and include private lake-front homes like ours, as well as houses in public or private lakeside communities on public lakes, along with other homes in forested woodlands that will suit individual tastes and budgets. This is a large house on a small, quiet, private lake that has *no* motorized vehicles. Sometimes people think it's on Candlewood Lake -- a large public lake nearby that has jet skis AND motorboats. Not so here. This lake, just steps outside the door, is very quiet and surrounded by a ridge line of trees that buffer out noise and light. You can see the stars and hear the birds and peepers as you fall asleep to croaking frogs ... and awaken the sounds of nature instead of neighborhood activities. The house is large with plenty of room for everyone to find a comfortable corner to zone out, read a book or listen to music without disturbing others. Even on a rainy day, there's plenty of space for everyone to find a quiet spot to play cards or get out a board game. A variety of diversions are provided. The eat-in kitchen sits four and is fully-outfitted with high-end appliances and all the essential tools and utensils. The Master Bedroom has a "king-size" bed (actually, two twins joined side-by-side to form a "king size"). The adjoining upstairs bedroom has a single bed and a roll-out single trundle bed. The downstairs bedroom has a queen-sized bed. Altogether, the house sleeps six comfortably. Guest access Guests check-in using a key code and come and go as they choose. We try to greet guests upon arrival or arrange to say hello during their visit, and we are available by cell, text and email. We also have back up plans if there's a snag. If something comes up just call us. There are three separate bedrooms, two baths and large living, dining and family rooms, as well as a screened in porch for outdoor dining and a large deck overlooking the lake. The house rules are strait forward and details about the house and surrounding area are provided in our Welcome Package. Basically we ask guests to leave the house as they found it -- with everything stowed away nip-n-tuck -- as things were upon arrival. Our housekeeper then cleans, launders the linens and bath towels, and tidies-up after guests depart. Minimum Stays are: - 3 nights in the Spring and Fall. - 4 nights during the Summer (July-August). - NOTE: The laundry room is available for stays four nights or longer. If you have any questions or special requests please contact us via the "CONTACT HOST" link on this page. Other things to note The location is rural and forested, so cell phone connectivity throughout the area is mixed depending on the provider. WiFi- and Ethernet-Internet is provided via Dual Band 5GHz/2.4GHz Router and Dual Band AC1200 WiFi Extender with 867Mbps on 5GHz and 300Mbps on 2.4GHz. Guests are required to use their personal cell phone with the house WiFi connection for *all* telephone calls. Netflix is provided and you're free to connect your laptop to the TV to view your own media via the provided HDMI cable. There is a canoe and a rowboat at the house for paddling and fishing, as well life-preservers, noodles for swimming. The landing at the house by the dock has grass "beach" and a sandy bottom for lake access. You can wade out to chest depth and then swim. A short way down the road is another lake access point by the dam, and a beach pass is provided for the Sherman Town Beach at Candlewood Lake. Squantz Pond State Park is also nearby and charges admission. Both those beaches are 10-15 minutes away in opposite directions.
