This traditional Icelandic cabin stands in an open space and offers a breathtaking panoramic view. The location is ideal to see the Northern Lights (September to April 15) and for excursions to many of Iceland's most famous sights: Waterfalls Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss, Reynisfjara beach, Geysir hot springs and Gullfoss waterfall. Other things to note Some hiking places: Not far away from Hvolsvollur and the cottage: 1) Triangle mountain: Triangle makes for a nice hike mostly along a marked path. The view is fantastic with at least four glaciers, Mount Hekla, the Vestmannaeyjar Islands and much more. We found the most northern peak to be most rewarding and beautiful as the many waterfalls in river Fossá can be seen from there. 2) Seljalandsfoss Waterfall - Fosstúnsfoss Waterfall 3) Cold (4) Big Dimon Montain 5) Thorsmork (but dont cross glacial rivers. Stop the car and walk) Near Skogar: Skogafoss Waterfall Near Vik: The beach at Vik and The beach Reynisfjara: a world-famous black-sand beach found on the South Coast of Iceland. BUT BE CAREFUL: Reynisfjara has been picked as one of the most beautiful beaches in the world - BUT it's also one of the most dangerous tourist destinations in Iceland. Three people have drowned in the past ten years at the beach after powerful sneaker waves knocked them down, sweeping them out to sea.
