If you are looking for a peaceful, nature filled retreat, with fast wifi, then look no further. Zen House is the perfect vacation getaway. Bright, and airy with windows throughout and a spectacular view of the redwoods. You are just under a ten minute car ride away from the beach. The property is on 3 acres with over 100 redwoods too large to put your arms around. The large decks, stone patio and pathways, hot tub, and grill add to the opportunity to forest bathe and enjoy the outdoor beauty. The space Built to bring the outdoor beauty in. The master suite has a king size bed, large open floor plan, a fireplace, and a beautiful view of the sunrise. The second upstairs bedroom has a twin and a trundle. The upstairs bathroom is separate from the bedrooms. One downstairs bedroom has a Queen with a newly remodeled bathroom attached. The second bedroom has a twin with a trundle. You walk through the first bedroom to get to the second bedroom in the downstairs bedrooms. Guests can enjoy the main house and all it has to offer, but the outbuildings are off limits.The hot tub is located off the back porch and is easy to access. There is also a granny unit with a king-size bed and an extra bathroom and kitchenette. The pictures of the granny unit are located in the additional photos category. If there are more than 6 the granny unit is a good option. It is an extra 200 per night with an extra 100 cleaning fee. If you are interested in this as an extra option, please message me about adding it. It is only available as an extra to guests who are renting the main house. Guest access This home is located on the Bodega side of Joy Road in Occidental. You will need to follow a steep, narrow, driveway (one way), but the view at the top is worth it. There is ample parking on a circular driveway at the top. The house is in a very quiet and private neighborhood. Neighbors always keep noise to a minimum and we expect the same courtesy from guests. The small, quaint town of Occidental is a 10 minute drive. The easiest accessible nearby beach is Bodega Bay Doran Beach which is a 10 minute drive. There is also the town of Sebastopol which is a 15 minute drive and offers diverse restaurant choices, unique shopping opportunities, and specialty stores. For a river experience, head on the Bohemian Highway for 15 minutes to the town of Monte Rio. Other things to note Hiking: Off Joy road, there are numerous, beautiful hikes, such as the Grove of Old Trees located on Fitzpatrick lane. One of Sonoma County's newest parks is the Jenner Headlands which offers an over 15 mile hike with much of it overlooking the Sonoma Coast. Bodega Head is also a can't miss hike. Biking: Joy Road connects to the world famous and by far one of the prettiest roads in Sonoma County- Coleman Valley Road. This is perfect if you want a strenuous bike to the coast. Tennis: 3 rackets are provided and a few tennis balls. Close public courts are located in town of Occidental. Golfing: The Links at Bodega Harbour 18 holes overlooking the Pacific ten minutes away. Surfers/ Paddle Boarding: Check out Northern Lights Surf Shop in the town of Bodega Bay and ask the friendly staff for recommendations or rentals. Goat Rock, Salmon Creek, Portuguese Beach, and Doran Beach are all great destinations for surfers and paddle boarders and beach goers alike. Bodega Bay also has a few Kayak rental outfits as well as numerous charter fishing and whale watching charters. Winter is a great time to go to BodegaHead to look for the migrating whales. Restaurants: In Occidental, you will want to try both the Union Hotel and Negris. Both are renowned Italian restaurants. There is also the new Altamont General Store and Café for morning coffee and Hazel which offers great wood fire pizzas. You can also head to Sebastopol and enjoy the Barlow. In addition to fun shops and a movie theater, you will find wineries, breweries, and restaurants galore. Shopping: Occidental has two small markets, but if you need a larger store, Sebastopol has Safeway and Whole Foods. On Thursday evenings in the summer, you can go to the Occidental Community Farmer's Market.
