Located near Galax & Hillsville, Mt. Airy, NC and Wytheville, VA in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains of southwest Virginia. It is 80 miles SW of Roanoke and 80 miles north of Winston Salem. We are only three miles from I-77, exit 19, with gorgeous quiet mountain views. Twin County airport is three miles away. There is a multitude of activities the area - Hiking, biking, canoeing, horseback riding, etc. I have three available bedrooms with private baths. The location is about three miles from exit 19 of Interstate 77. Twin County airport is three miles away. There is a multitude of activities in which to participate in the area. Hiking, biking, canoeing, horseback riding, etc. I have three available bedrooms with private baths. Two of the bedrooms have queen beds and the basement room has a single twin sized bed for one person only. You should be able to see all three of my offerings on a normal browser on your computer. I have been told by Airbnb that they all might not show up on an app. Guests will not be accepted any later than 9 pm. Guest access Guests will have full use of the private bedroom. They can watch TV in the balcony of the home as there is no TV in this bedroom. They are welcome to work on the jigsaw puzzle that is constantly available. They can use the deck as well, and there is a meeting room available. A community room can also be made available if needed. In addition to this one See Shirley's Homestead, West Bedroom/ Prvt Bath, the other two sites are named: Shirley's Homestead Walk-Out Basement Bed/Bath and Shirley's Homestead, East Bedroom/ Private Bath so you can search for any of those. The basement room cost is a bit more than the other two rooms that sleep two. The dog, Cookie would not be allowed into the areas that are described in the rental information. Guests will not be accepted later than 9 pm. During your stay I would be happy to help guests in any way possible. Other things to note There are trails throughout the 85 acre forest area where guests would be welcome to hike. ABSOLUTELY NO SMOKING anywhere on this land. Nearby attractions include the NEW RIVER TRAIL which is great for biking, hiking, or horseback riding; beautiful NEW RIVER for kayaking or fishing; the BLUE RIDGE PARKWAY on which you can visit the CHATEAU MORRISETTE winery or the BLUE RIDGE MUSIC CENTER, MABRY MILL which is the most photographed mill in the nation; or just have a nice relaxing drive to view the beautiful scenery along the parkway. Also off the Parkway is the Villa Appalaccia Winery. Yearly events include the famous Galax Fiddlers' Convention and the Hillsville Flea Market. The historic Rex Theater offers music shows every weekend in Galax. This area is on the Crooked Road Music Trail. The Chestnut Creek Arts Center is located in Galax. Nearby is the town of Hillsville where the historic courthouse is located that is famous for the 1912 Allen Tragedy when they shot up the courthouse. There is also an excellent museum maintained by the Carroll County Historical Society inside the historic courthouse as well as the Genealogy Club office where one can do family research. Also located here is the beautiful Beaver Dam Creek Trail which is excellent for hiking. The Southwestern Farmers' Market is located at exit 14 off Interstate 77 which is 7 miles away. Golfing is available at Blue Ridge Country Club, just a few miles from the home, or farther away is the Olde Mill Golf Course in Laurel Fork, VA. The Crossroads Institute is located in Galax which is a "rural entrepreneurial and educational initiative." Wytheville, VA is only 28 miles away with a 31 minute drive. This is the location of the Wohlf Wohlfahrt haus Dinner Theater which produces extremely professional musicals. The town of Mt. Airy, NC is also just 28 miles away (35 minute drive), the home of Andy Griffith and is a delightful place to tour. A list of local churches can be provided as well. No pets allowed. No food is provided but guests would have kitchen privileges as well as the use of the balcony for watching television or working on puzzles, and the deck for enjoying the mountain views and watching the turkeys, deer and other wildlife.
