Our log house, Windridge, is close to Leesburg but set in the quiet countryside w/views of hundreds of acres of farmland. Sitting on the screened porch & listening to nature is my favorite thing = so relaxing. Sometimes we can offer more space for groups over 6; please contact us w/detailed information in your inquiry. We'd like to help. The space We recently finished the basement entertainment room with vinyl plank flooring, drywall and fresh paint. There is also a new 65" TV and BluRay player as well as a wood stove to use between December and February to enjoy after a good exhilarating day sightseeing, biking, hiking or touring wineries and breweries in the area. Although the screened porch is still our favorite spot, we have had a nice, wide trail cleared around the property; when looking from the front door, it starts on the right between two boulders and is about ⅖'s of a mile long. Turkeys can often be heard and seen as well as deer and even a bear has been caught on camera (hence trash can moved to end of driveway and bungee cords). Lots of birds sing all year long with crickets and frogs at times, too. Guest access Doors are locked in the basement that are not available to guests and there is a closet in the mudroom/laundry area that has a chain around the handles; any attempt to enter these areas will result in retaining the deposit and possible additional charges via Airbnb and its Resolutions Center. Other things to note NOTE: Windridge was rented with long-term guests (staying months) for most of 2020-2022 due to Covid. Since 2007 there have been many private rentals for Windridge also. Occupancy as well as state and local sales and use taxes are collected by Airbnb, for a total of 14%. PLEASE read carefully all House Rules. The internet has been a challenge for those that must have it constantly. We tried satellite via HughesNet for 2 years but that wasn't any better than the Verizon Mifi/hotspot. We now have StarLink which is a bit better, when the weather is good and not during peak hours. The speed has been about 40 download and 4.5 upload. We are constantly searching for something better and have our name on the list for Comcast, All Points Broadband and Cladden Glass but the rural outskirts of Loudoun Co are notoriously underserved. Windridge does have some 'arrival needs' (not enough to last the duration of a stay) such as: dish soap, TP, wraps and foils, seasonings, condiments, coffee filters and some tea. I ask that you please replenish if there is not enough for the next group who might not arrive early enough to go shopping! Our log house is in a fairly wooded area; if you are not familiar with this type of area and have allergies, you might expect them to react when surrounded by this very natural setting and plan accordingly. There are also animals and bugs here; the varied conditions of the environment are not under our control. Windridge also has feather pillows on some of the beds; please just put those in the closet if you bring your own to use while there. There are only 3 bedrooms that can be used for sleeping; the maximum amount of guests is 6. IF more space is needed, there is an efficiency apartment, below the master bedroom, that might possibly be available for an additional fee. Using any other area, other than the beds in the bedrooms, as sleeping space, without written acceptance from me, will incur an additional fee. If not upfront with this information, the additional charges will be deducted through Airbnb and your guest 'status' will change.
