Otter House
Otter House is a beautifully appointed log cabin in the trees overlooking Otter Lake. It is comfortably furnished with a well equipped kitchen. The lakefront has a small beach, 3 kayaks, a canoe, hammocks and a fire pit. Otter Lake is a tranquil spot with great fishing and very little boat traffic. Canoe up the Otter River or Kayak down to the dam. You will see eagles, beavers, turtles, loons, geese and if you're lucky an otter. There is a parking pad for your RV or trailer. The space R+ Located 20 minutes south of Houghten on a private road with no traffic, Otter House is a perfect base for exploring the wild and historic Keweenaw peninsula and Porcupine Mountains. From Misery Bay to Houghton, Hancock and Calumet on up to Eagle River and Copper Harbor. All are easy day trips. There are too many beaches, waterfalls and trails to count and many historic sites including the copper mines, forts and ghost towns. For recreation the Keweenaw Peninsula has a very extensive trail system for ORVs and snowmobiles. Also abundant mountain biking, snowshoeing, x-country, and hiking trails. Mt. Bohemia features the highest vertical drop (and the most snow) of any ski resort in the midwest. Or, you can just chill out with your friends and family floating around on Otter Lake.
