To get a little space from all this action, Interstate-84 is nearby that will take you east to The Dalles, or west to Cascade Locks and the National Scenic Area of the Columbia River Gorge. Highway 35 will take you south on a 45-minute drive through the orchards of Hood River Valley to Mt. Hood Meadows Ski Resort and on to the historic Timberline Lodge on Mt. Hood. Or take the Hood River Bridge north to Washington and the town of White Salmon. The Columbia River Gorge, with its mountains and rivers, offers the vacationer and recreation enthusiast the opportunity to windsurf, kiteboard, Stand UP Paddle, mountain bike, kayak, golf, ski, hike, fish, or just relax in the unhurried pace of a natural paradise.
