Haul luggage across the Kennicott River Footbridge If you have Verizon or Copper valley Telephone, your cell will work in McCarthy and Kennecott. After arriving at the east end of the McCarthy Rd, guests need 45 min to park and pay, drop off and haul luggage across the Kennicott River Footbridge, and load into a Shuttle. Please allow at least 15 min to arrange parking at the end of the road, and 30 min to drop-off/carry luggage. For heavy loads, a wheeled hand cart can be found at the west or east side of the Footbridge. There are 3 privately owned parking lots within the final mile of the McCarthy Rd. GETTING TO KENNICOTT: A van is provided to take you to and from the footbridge for your arrival and departure. If you wish to go to McCarthy or back to Kennecott during your stay, you will need to utilize the shuttle service. One way fare on shuttle is $5 per person. Luggage must fit on the passengers lap. No extra room for other luggage. ONCE you have arrived in Kennecott, the Kennicott Copper Cottage is just over 1/2 mi from where the shuttle stops. Walk north towards the mill, past the Kennicott Glacier Lodge, make a sharp right up hill. Once you walk up the hill the road levels out. You will see a group of 3 historic cottages on the right, continue past them to the group of 4 historic cottages. Kennicott Copper Cottage is the third cottage (#12). Your arrival van will take you directly to the cottage and when you depart the van will take you back to the bridge.
