Donnell Pond Rustic Camp Young
Quaint & rustic camp on Donnell's Pond in Franklin, Maine. Located in a quiet cove suitable for swimming and fishing. Explore the pond in two provided kayaks. Pick blueberries close by during July-Aug. Hike a nearby mountain & visit Acadia National Park in Bar Harbor. Rainy days, play games or watch a movie on the TV & DVD player. Electricity, full appliances, hot/cold water, outside shower,porta potty and heating fireplace for those chilly nights. Camp is available from May 1st to Mid-October. Camp is located on a half acre lot with a front lawn that leads directly to the water. A small dock is provided for kayaks and paddle boat. Two beaches are available for public use on the back side of the pond. Picnic table and fire pit available on front lawn as well as a small patio deck. Camp contains kitchen/living combination area with all appliances, table/chairs, recliner, rocker, Tv and a new pullout sofa bed, a small bedroom downstairs and a sleeping loft upstairs. Sleeps six total. A BBQ grill and corn hole games also provided. You will need a vehicle to get around. A ferry to Bar Harbor and a free shuttle bus to Schoodic Point in Acadia National Park are available seasonally in Winter Harbor, (a half hour drive from camp) beginning the 3rd week of June. An eighteen hole golf course is also available in Winter Harbor. Bike and sea kayak rentals are available in Birch Harbor, a five minute drive from Winter Harbor. Camp resides in Franklin, Maine. Franklin is a small town, population of: 1,500 people. Namesake: Benjamin Franklin. Local store: Franklin Trading Post with an attached well -known and fully occupied restaurant that serves breakfast and lunch. A veteran's club ( two miles distant, which you passed on the way to camp) provides Friday night dinner and entertainment, Saturday night drinks at the bar and Sunday morning church services ( for end of weekend redemption purposes if needed). You will need a vehicle to get around. Camp owners live in Winter Harbor and would be more than willing to help provide information to guests for activities available, dining experiences in the area, and much more ( maybe even a ride on a lobster boat to catch your own dinner)!
