The Mon National Forest, caving, climbing, ski resorts, tubing, white water rafting, Thomas and Davis are a short drive. We are within walking distance to excursion trains, pool, park, Davis and Elkin's college, library, Rails for Trails, shops, restaurants, galleries and music. some renovations now The space This listing is for Bedroom one, called " The Optimistic Room". Our Home offers two bedrooms on the second floor with Queen size beds that can sleep 2 in a room. There is a communal Bathroom and shower down the hall with total access to most of the house, porch and back orchard. The extra sleeping areas comprise of the downstairs music study that can also be made private, with a futon couch and a half bath. In a pinch the downstairs couch can also be made into a bed. We have a cook's commercial kitchen that you are welcome to utilize with a microwave. We have reserved two spaces in the refrigerator with room in the freezer for our guests. We live on premise and offer coffee, tea, water, and an occasional organic tart, quiche, etc... Comfortable, unformal The House is a comfortable and unassuming place with large rooms and plenty of space. For those with allergies there is a cat on premise; however, she does NOT have access to guest bedrooms or bathrooms. Guest access Bathroom, Study, Livingroom, Kitchen, Dining room, Front and back porch and the orchard. During your stay As Artists and Musicians, we are very social. It depends on the guest if they want to interact with us. We respect the privacy of all our guests and have placed informational maps that outline area restaurants, entertainment, places of interest; these are located in the rooms for the convenience of our guests. So, it's very easy to be completely independent while visiting. Other things to note Since we purchased this property in 1999, my husband and I have been on a mission to save and revert the property (with amenities) to its formal glory. This old house had seen over 100 years of mistreatment and should have been condemned, as you know that didn't happen. Since that time, this house has had many incarnations, she was a Café "The Posten House", an Antique Store (the Victorian Emporium) and is currently an Art Studio " Studio 405". During those years, many who had lived here, came back; all had stories, and all said the same thing, " We were so Happy Here"! We are still working on the "Old Girl", she is a labor of love.
